The entire RAG industry is about to get cooked.
Researchers have built a new RAG approach that:
- does not need a vector DB.
- does not embed data.
- involves no chunking.
- performs no similarity search.
It's called PageIndex. Instead of chunking your docs and stuffing them into pinecone, it builds a tree index and lets the LLM reason through it like a human reading a book.
hit 98.7% on financebench. beats every vector RAG on the leaderboard.
no embeddings. no chunking. no vector DB.
100% open source.
Every struggling team I’ve turned around had the same root cause: the system was working against them. Once you fix ownership, flow, and feedback loops, the performance issues melt away.
@japborst@rhein_wein Because upon the $1B Atlassian's acquisition, all my (vested) advisory shares were voided by DX and not paid out. I was told it was an honest mistake.
Except it wasn't.
I will never do business with the CEO ever again.
(I was not the only such advisor with this story)
Fuck it, we just made Fizzy completely free.
The open source installable version was always free, but the SaaS version was pay. No more. Basecamp and HEY's largess will subsidize Fizzy for all.
So go grab your account at https://t.co/pGxSDeGKNK. It's Kanban the way it should be, not the way it has been. Fresh, fun, light, fast, and perfect for working with agents, too.
An official CLI is coming soon as well. Stay tuned for that.
The native iOS app should be out once Apple approves it (it's in approval right now...). Android is already out, you can get it on the Play store.
(and BTW if you were a paying customer, you will no longer be charged moving forward)
Last year Mark Russinovich and I wrote a paper on how Software Engineering will redefine the profession, and how early in career engineers may see an “AI Drag,” while seniors will see a significant boost. This paper was published today in the Communications of the ACM, Association for Computing Machinery @TheOfficialACM
Thursday challenge: Instead of just the usual ‘good job’ shout-out, share a quirky team win. Maybe someone finally fixed that ancient bug no one thought was fixable, or a teammate brought in legendary snacks that saved the day. Celebrate the fun wins too!”
A good leader’s heuristic: If you’re feeling the chaos, start by bringing one piece of clarity. Simplify a decision, untangle a process, or just let your team know what’s not changing today. One clear step cuts through a lot of noise.
Good morning. If you’re on here feeling the stress, remember: you don’t have to fix everything today. Just pick one lever to pull this morning and let that be enough.
I’ve done this job at a few altitudes now - IC, tech lead, startup CTO, manager, director. Over time you stop collecting tips and start collecting heuristics. The kind you reach for when things are messy and the clock is ticking. Im gonna share my favourites:
