Newly appointed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has launched a statewide crackdown on food adulteration and banned products within days of taking charge.

After assuming office on May 25, Mundhe directed officials across Maharashtra to conduct special raids targeting adulterators, illegal gutkha sellers, unhygienic food manufacturers, and establishments violating food safety norms.

In just three days, FDA teams carried out 53 raids across Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Amravati, Konkan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisions. Authorities found 34 establishments allegedly involved in the sale of banned gutkha and pan masala. A total of 25 FIRs were registered, 33 accused arrested, 5 vehicles seized, and 27 establishments sealed.

The biggest action was reported from Mumbai, where 19 establishments were raided and sealed. Officials also seized banned gutkha, flavoured tobacco and illegally packaged products.

Apart from tobacco-related products, FDA teams inspected packaged drinking water, milk, edible oil, sweets, spices, paneer, ghee, bakery products and other food items. During the operation, authorities seized suspected adulterated and illegal food products worth ₹28.78 lakh, while samples have been sent for laboratory testing.

The large-scale drive signals a tougher enforcement approach under Mundhe's leadership, with the FDA warning strict action against those compromising public health.

आज स्वातंत्र्यवीर सावरकरांची जयंती.

सावरकर हे औषध आजवर कुणालाच पचलेलं नाही. महाभयंकर आजार क्षणात नाहीसं करणारं अत्यंत कडवट औषध म्हणजे सावरकर. ते औषध कडू लागतं म्हणून तुम्ही घेण्यावाचून राहत असाल तर आजाराने मेल्या वाचून राहणार नाही.

अंधार कोठडीत,कोलू फिरवत,हाती पायी बेड्या पडून दिवसरात्र भिंतीला जोखडून ठेवले असताना "मारील रिपू जगती असा, कवण जन्मला" असा आत्मविश्वास देणारं हे औषध.

स्वातंत्र्यदेवतेची उपासना करत राष्ट्रप्रेमाची ज्योत कायम आमच्या हृदयात तेवत ठेवायची शिकवण देणारं हे औषध आहे.

मार्क्स काय म्हणाला, लेनिन काय सांगून गेला,लिंकन ने कुणाला पत्रं लिहिली ह्यापेक्षा सावरकर या औषधाच्या लसी टोचून घेण्याची देशातल्या प्रत्येकाला फार गरज आहे.

सावरकर नावाचं औषध आजच्या त्यांच्या विरोधकांना पचेल हे अपेक्षितच नाही, पण त्यांचे अनेक विचार त्यांच्या समर्थकांनाही पचणार नाहीत असेच. सावरकरांचे राजकीय समर्थकही हे औषध वेचून निवडून मगच घेतात हे विशेष.

आज आम्ही एका विचित्र वैचारिक व्याधीने ग्रासलो आहोत. एकीकडे सावरकरांच्या नावावर बेगडी राजकारणी समर्थक आहेत आणि दुसरीकडे अंदमानच्या अमानुष यातनांना हिणवणारे विरोधक!

एकाला सावरकर हे औषध हवं आहे पण अगदी मोजून मापून, कडवट लागणार नाही असंच, आणि दुसऱ्यांना तर हे औषध समजून घेण्याची बुद्धीच नाही.

आम्ही त्यांच्या विचारांची सोयीस्कर छाटणी करून, आमच्या छोट्या चौकटीत बसवू शकत नाही. सावरकर हे एक अथांग समुद्र आहेत, तिथून चमचाभर पाणी काढून स्वतःची तहान भागवणारे आम्ही कोण?
एकतर सावरकर पूर्ण स्वीकारा, नाहीतर पूर्ण नाकारा! कारण अर्धवट घेतलेले कडू औषध रोगापेक्षाही जास्त घातक ठरू शकतं.

सावरकर हे काही रोज रात्री थोडं थोडं घेण्याचं टॉनिक नाही, ते एक जहाल रसायन आहे त्याला रक्तात भिनवावं लागणार.

राजकीय स्वार्थापोटी सावरकरांवर पोकळ गप्पा मारणारे, किंवा त्यांच्यावर चिखलफेक करणारे आज एका विचित्र व्याधीने आजारी आहेत.

आणि कडवट औषधाची गरज आजारी माणसालाच असते!

@_prashantkadam प्रत्येक बाबींवर व्यक्त होऊन महत्तवं देणे कमी केलं तर वातावरण बरचं स्वच्छ व्हायला मदत होईल.

@keshavupadhye केशव जी, हे आकडे सांयुक्तिक असले तरी आता त्याला फार महत्त्व नाही. बहुतेक करून सगळ्यांना हे (जे थोडे फार राजकीय जाणकार आहेत) माहीती आहे, त्यात फार असं नवल काही नाही. जसं तुम्ही म्हणालात, तशी संधी तर होती, पण फक्त संधी च सोनं, सभागृहात जाऊन च होतं/होईन असंही नाही. ते एक प्रमाण आहे.
