Mulgrew has proven that this is not a labor union but rather a right-wing service association, acting on behalf of city management. From privatizing retiree Medicare to quoting right wing think tanks to reject the New York Health on our union website to rejecting the right to strike by public sector workers.

The Shanker Unity caucus machine unilaterally controls this operation like a mob racket and patronage fraternity. They’ve run it with an iron fist, with performative democracy, now, for over half a century.

With this decision, they make the case to many that it might be time to dismantle it all and start again as a bonafide labor union.
