In this episode of Animals & Us, created with @bbcstoryworks, we see how @EUPAHW is helping preserve the use of antimicrobials and reduce antimicrobial resistance.
It's a whole of government affair in Nigeria, with the One Health ministers taking the leading in getting the country ready for December 6-8.

One Health in action: Abuja sets the stage for the 5th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) respects no borders or sectors. On Monday, 12 October 2026, Nigeria showed what a united response looks like.
At the Global Joint One Health Ministerial Press Conference in Abuja, four ministries spoke with one voice:
Health and Social Welfare: AMR is a growing threat to human health, and it demands coordinated global action.
Agriculture and Food Security: AMR touches every part of our food systems.
Livestock Development: responsible antimicrobial use in livestock production protects animals and people alike.
Environment: the environment plays a central role in the spread of AMR, from pollution to waste management.
They were joined by the World Health Organization, FAO and Africa CDC and journalists and newsrooms focusing on AMR and the One Health sectors.
In December, Abuja will welcome One Health ministers from around the world to turn global commitments into local action.
