This photo of me and my dad was taken right before my wedding - one our happiest moments together and one I’ll cherish forever. My dad, Howard Fineman, passed last night - surrounded by our family. I spent a lot of the last week thinking about this moment. It was a passing of the baton of sorts, a loving moment filled with advice and guidance.
At times while growing up - my dad was larger than life to me. A giant on a tv screen, stage or in the pages of a magazine. Other times he was my vulnerable father that no one else had the privilege to see.
The world was a better place because he lived in it and wrote about it. I was lucky enough to get to call him dad.
Saddened to hear of Lindsay’s death though we so regularly disagreed. But he was a good friend and an amazingly effective Senator. Also, the funniest. One Christmas break I told him my family was going to Puerto Rico. He said, “Do two fundraisers. One for those who are pro-statehood and one for those who are against it. They never talk to each other.”
CNN’s Anderson Cooper spent the first eleven minutes of his show covering this last night and even put out the key parts here on this platform. Journalism. Bravo.
🚨NEW: "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" just dropped its first response to ABC, FCC chair, and Disney firing Jimmy Kimmel.
Trump ain't sleeping tonight. 🤣
This is a must-watch. 🔥
Condemning another absolutely disgraceful act of gun violence. My thoughts & prayers are w/ Charlie Kirk & his family in this terrible moment & we are all grateful for first responders who immediately jumped into action.
We must categorically reject all violence in our society.
SICKENING—Trump’s DHS just deported a surgeon from Brown University Medical School—who is here legally on an H1B visa that doesn’t expire until 2027, and has committed no crimes. Trained in the U.S. at Ohio State, University of Washington, and Yale as a **transplant surgeon** (one of the most difficult surgical fields in all of medicine!!!), she is a highly trained doctor on kidney transplants, which cannot be easily replaced. Her phone was seized at the border. A federal judge handed down an injunction against her deportation—but she was already deported on a plane en route to Paris. Brown’s kidney transplant clinic is now strained by her deportation.
I'm totally depressed by Trump and Vance's treatment of Zelensky in the Oval today. Seems like payback for the 2019 phone call that led to Trump's first impeachment. We can't forget that Ukrainians have been fighting and dying for their nation's land and people since 2014.
Holding back tears: “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard working immigrants who make this country great, for health care, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech, for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on social security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the truth, for democracy, for decency, for everyone who voted again him, and guess what—it was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too, you just don’t realize it yet” @jimmykimmel@JimmyKimmelLive
This happened at an MD06 candidate forum for Congress. The man standing is Neil Parrot, the woman sitting is April McClain Delaney. I'll let the pic speak for itself. Please repost. Let's make sure @April4Congress is elected and not this guy. Democracy is on the line.
It’s Walz! Pronounced “Walls”. A great choice with an impressive record in Minnesota: making reproductive freedom a right, expanding paid family and medical leave, making school meals for students free. Veteran, teacher, football coach, Congressman, Governor. And he’s not weird!
