The Partition of 1947 was not merely a division of boundaries; it was shaped by the politics of that era, the 1946 provincial elections, and large-scale populat¡on movements.
A question also arises: when Pak¡$tan was demanded as a separate nation on the basis of re|¡g¡on, why did such a large Mu$|¡m population continue to remain in India after Part¡t¡on?
On 3 January 1948, at Calcutta Maidan, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel spoke about the roughly 4.5 crore Mu$|¡m$ who remained in India, noting that many had supported the creation of Pak¡$tan. He questioned how their position could change so quickly and urged them to answer that question through their own conscience.
The history of Partition should therefore be understood through the electoral records of 1946, official documents, and the original statements of leaders from that period. 🇮🇳
