Woman, Life, Freedom is a non-violent, intersectional, emancipatory movement led by brave women and girls of Iran and its non-violent activists such as the Peace Nobel Prize winner Nargess Mohammadi, Nasrin Sotoudeh, Golrokh Iraei, etc. Not this war hawk.
"I was sexually assaulted when I was in the worst possible state,” says journalist Nazila Maroofian in an audio message from #Iran's Evin Prison.
Maroofian, sounding weak, has been on a hunger strike since Aug. 31 to protest her unjust detention.

Reverent words by Amjad Amini, the father of Mahsa Jina Amini, whose killing in Iranian state custody last year ignited months of anti-state protests that came to be known as the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement.
(Amini's father is taking grave risks by speaking publicly in the interview with VOA Persian we've excerpted below ahead of the September 16 anniversary of her death, as Iranian state security forces continue to arbitrarily arrest relatives of victims of state violence.)
“... Given the circumstances, we can’t officially invite people to the ceremony [on the anniversary of her killing] or tell them don’t attend. Everyone these days knows Mahsa doesn’t just belong to the Amini family; she’s Iran's daughter, she belongs to the whole country. All of Mahsa's admirers are her family. So, whatever the people decide, we’ll obey.”

At least 122 students in Iran have been suspended or expelled by university disciplinary committees in connection with protests after the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini in Sept 2022, reports the Committee Following the Status of Detainees.
Many of these students are young women who were referred to the committees for allegedly refusing to abide by the state’s forced-hijab law.
“The disciplinary committee meetings at the university were like [kangaroo] courts,” a student at the Tabriz Medical Sciences University told the Center for Human Rights in Iran in June 2023. “The students weren’t given the chance to defend themselves at all.”
