@BDSixsmith In a lot of circles you're expected to be political, so if you've put that you're "not political" you're not just saying you aren't political (may be fine!) but also showing that you aren't attuned to that circle's expectation (red flag!)
Congratulations to the Male Educator Network & Policy Institute (MEN) on their launch! On National Teacher Appreciation Day, MEN's work to increase male representation in U.S. classrooms couldn't be more timely. Led by @curtiseveryday, MEN connects policymakers and advocates to drive the research and policy change our schools need. Follow for research, insights, and policy work. https://t.co/gxpogQbZlN
Is there a gender gap in marijuana use? Turns out, yes. 1 in 10 men are near-daily users compared to 1 in 16 women… and the gap widens the heavier the use. Interesting new data from @aibm_org: https://t.co/dwtzO3EB8X
The frontier AI labs have built extraordinary things and I’m in awe of their accomplishments. But if you compare your technology to nuclear weapons, predict that it will disemploy tens of millions of people, and announce the invention of a digital skeleton key to ~exfiltrate top secret information from government systems and gain control over critical infrastructure including military infrastructure~ I genuinely have a hard time seeing how this doesn’t end with some form of govt nationalization or sanction or something weirder.
I can’t predict the evolution of this technology well enough to know what I’m rooting for here, but just adding 2 and 2 makes it hard to see how or why we’d continue to treat these companies like they’re ordinary private sector firms.
What does yesterday's court decision about Meta and YouTube signal about potential liability/addictiveness of sports betting and prediction market apps? AIBM's @andersknospe gives his reflections.
If you work in AI policy or if you comment on the trajectory of AI in a way that could plausibly affect public-policy outcomes, please consider whether your commentary over the last 6-12 months would have prepared someone who listened to you well for Moltbook.
Consider whether someone who had seriously listened to your commentary about, say, GPT-5 and whether it indicated stagnation in AI, would be surprised, or relatively unsurprised, by Moltbook. And Claude Code for that matter.
Think hard about this! It is a key barometer for whether you are doing a good job.
@PEWilliams_ I'd like to think that, but IMO we're already at the point that AI can write a solid non-AI-y personal statement if you just know how to prompt it. Hard to see how the premium survives that
