Insurance premiums are cheaper when you don't have pregnant or sick people in the risk pool. People don't want to pay for other people's medical care.

The AMA has spent the better part of the last 150 years advocating for physician independence and freedom from any restrictions on pay. They pushed the "socialism" line hard when Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law in the 1960's.

There are 3 models:

1. Government owns all and pays all, funded by taxes (UK)

2. Government regulates costs and requires insurance to be non-profit (Germany)...

@aliciaandrz I had a professor give a take home physics test over Thanksgiving. Took me 30 hours to complete. I also had a 30 page paper due the week after Thanksgiving. I came out of my room long enough to eat Thanksgiving dinner, and that was all. 🤬
