“In our time people have learned to subordinate friendship to what’s called “convictions.” And even with a prideful tone of moral correctness. It does take great maturity to understand that the opinion we are arguing for is merely the hypothesis we favor, … 1/2
BREAKING: Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is burning during Russia’s ongoing ballistic missile attack on Kyiv.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reports a fire on the grounds of the monastery, including the roof of the Dormition Cathedral.
SpaceX is asking public markets for a $1.75 trillion valuation on a $626 billion industry.
Here is the thing, they're not pricing what space is. They're pricing what space becomes at $25/kg.
Ok @JeffBezos I got it.
But there are tons of garbage in engineering papers & methods.
And black holes of structured information missing.
How to make an AI able to methodically consider, build, test and refine ideas to solve complex problems within real world constrains?
JEFF BEZOS JUST EMERGED FROM STEALTH WITH A $41 BILLION AI STARTUP CALLED PROMETHEUS
$12 billion raised. Valued at $41 billion. Coming out of stealth today.
The backers: Bezos personally, JPMorgan, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, DST Global, and Arch Venture Partners.
The mission: do for engineering and manufacturing what large language models did for text.
Bezos is calling it an "artificial general engineer." Instead of training on words from the internet, Prometheus ingests data from the physical world to accelerate the manufacturing of skyscrapers, smartphones, jet engines, and everything in between.
In Bezos' own words: "Something that today was going to take 100 engineers 10 years to build, if you can change that to taking 10 engineers one year to build, you're just going to get way more things built."
This is Bezos' first CEO role since stepping down from Amazon in 2021. He's co-leading it with Vik Bajaj, former Google X executive.

Ok, fellas, we see all your tags and we get it.
But.
Being a shitty person doesn't make someone a legitimate military target under international law. Climbing on a tank for internet clout isn't enough to become a combatant.
Do something that actually qualifies — then we can talk. Until then, we'll keep our drones for real military targets 😉
1,568 days.
That’s how long World War I lasted.
As of today, Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has lasted just as long. Millions displaced, thousands killed, entire cities destroyed — and Europe’s largest war since 1945 is still not over.
SpaceX has just officially unveiled its AI1 satellite, the first generation of its AI satellite.
Overall Specs:
• 150 kW peak compute payload
• 120 kW average compute payload
• 70 kW per ton
• Compute provider interchangeable
Dimensions:
• Wingspan: 70 meters
• Deployed height: 20 meters
Thermal System:
• 110 m² deployable liquid radiator
• Redundant pumping loops
• Integrated micrometeoroid shielding
• Deployable liquid radiators
Solar Power System:
• 150 kW solar array
• 250 W/m²
• SpaceX-manufactured solar technology from Bastrop, Texas
Architecture:
• Centralized compute module
• Large deployable solar arrays
• Deployable liquid-radiator thermal management system
• AI-focused compute satellite design ("AI1 satellite")
Elon: "The AI satellite is much simpler than a Starlink satellite. The AI satellite is essentially a lot of solar cells, you still need some laser links, but you don't have all of the super complex antennas that you have on a Starlink satellite. The easier one to design for is the AI satellite. It's bigger. A lot of this is technology we've already made with the Starlink V3 satellites."
Russia is deliberately destroying natural habitats, as well as injuring and killing animals in Ukraine.
This is ecocide, and Russia has to be held accountable for it.

Lufthansa 787-9 Damaged After Gear Collapse in Frankfurt
Lufthansa Boeing 787-9, registration D-ABPQ, sustained substantial damage after experiencing a landing gear collapse while at the gate in Frankfurt. As a result of the incident, today’s LH450 flight has been canceled. Further details are still emerging, and information regarding any possible injuries has not yet been confirmed.
Today, Jamshid Ghomi, a dual U.S.-Iranian citizen who lives in a $35 million mansion in Orange County, California, was arrested on a federal criminal complaint charging him with selling computer technology to Iranian companies and Iran’s government — including technology to help with Iran’s military and nuclear program.
These allegations assert that the defendant violated U.S. sanctions against Iran, aided one of our nation’s enemies, supported Iran’s nuclear program, and got rich doing it. Not only is he being arrested today, but we also are beginning the process of seizing his mansion, which was purchased with his illegal proceeds. Thanks to the work of @USAttyEssayli’s office, @CommerceGov, and @IRS_CI’s Los Angeles Field Office, he will face the full force of justice.
More than 500 personnel of the State Emergency Service have been involved in dealing with the aftermath of Russia’s overnight attack on our cities and communities. The main strike was on Kyiv, where dozens of residential buildings and other purely civilian infrastructure were damaged again. Tragically, four people have been reported killed. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. At this moment, 38 people are in hospitals in the capital, and all of them are receiving the necessary care.
In Dnipro, a search and rescue operation is ongoing at the site of a four-story apartment building. Part of the building was essentially demolished. Nine people were killed in this attack, including a child. Thirty-five people were injured in the city. The fate of six more people remains unknown. The search for them will continue for as long as necessary.
The Russians also struck energy facilities in the Kharkiv region and critical infrastructure in Kharkiv. Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions also came under attack.
In total, overnight Russia launched 656 attack drones and 73 missiles of various types at our people – ballistic, cruise, and anti-ship missiles. A large-scale attack and an absolutely clear statement from Russia: if Ukraine is not protected from ballistic and other missile strikes, these attacks will continue. Europe needs its own anti-ballistic defense so that this war can finally be brought to an end. And assistance from the United States in supplying missiles for Patriot systems is absolutely necessary. We are counting on the support of our partners and on effective responses to today’s attack.
And I thank all Ukrainian men and women for not ignoring air raid alerts.
Glory to Ukraine!

Growing numbers of Ukrainian women in areas recaptured from Russian occupation are starting to speak about the sexual violence they experienced at the hands of Russian soldiers.
