He did the immolation without audience (just 3, 4 people around?) without a statement. At first I thought he was a homeless person with mental issues. I figured things out through twitter.

And yes, It’s heartbreaking!

@ellocust @Commenting_FAST @DarrenBotelho @NBC10Boston He didn’t do it right in front of the consulate, he literally looked for spectators, but there weren’t many, just me and my friend, maybe 3 other people around. We were at a bit of a distance from the consulate!!!! He wanted an audience, which is disturbing.

Thank God my child wasn’t with me when this happened.

@DarrenBotelho @NBC10Boston I was a firsthand witness. 😖🤯 It was awful to see him on fire, not fighting against the flames or screaming for help. He was just enduring the pain!Does anyone know why he did this to himself?
I think I have some post traumatic stress

I didn’t understand why he did that to himself until this morning, when I learned his act was an extreme protest.

Absolutely not. I was in shock, and I called 911. I would never think of taking pictures or videos of such a disturbing experience.
