My 'good' "friend" Bob Byington has a new movie out this weekend that I can report Is Good because Bob tricked me into coming out to see it in a theater by pretending to be present in town. You, however, can watch it from your home.
Reflecting again on my time last week watching Martha Stewart for hours on a hotel tv. Obviously one could say she’s the blueprint for the tradwife girlies but there’s so much more to it than that. Unlike them instead of neurotically performing femininity she has this amazing butch energy with her sexy husky voice and dykey haircuts (very Hillary) and her intense disagreeableness which seeps through even the most benign scripted tv segments (watched her squeeze a lemon and then start ranting and raving about how much she hated pre-bottled lemon juice and how it “tastes like Mr. Clean”). Plus she doesn’t resort to any sniveling theatrics to pretend she isn’t Filthy Fucking Rich and instead flaunts drone shots of her estate that looks like it belongs to a feudal lord. Meanwhile it’s obvious she could have coasted through life on her rich husband, literal model looks, genius IQ, and banging personality but she instead chose to build a true Girlboss Empire the likes of which the world has never seen. And on top of all that the content she makes is actually extremely useful and inspiring and has been so consistently for the last thirty years. A living legend and a Very Good Thing.
@Incindery1@blakebutler I think anyone is a dope who can’t feel the beauty, complexity, and power of this book. But of course acknowledge the personal right to uh ‘not like long sentences’
I couldn’t agree more. Feeling in TOTAL awe of @blakebutler’s book and rage toward the dopes who took to Twitter to spew their dullness without having read it.
