Low-key one of the best things in the more recent (un-released) Ironwail updates. Allows you to open any file referenced in the console straight to your explorer. It's insanely useful for debugging or to quickly nab a screenshot.
It's finally out! BONK is Quake mod that gives you a new melee weapon that allows the player to jump higher, move faster, and fight harder!

As SDL3 is officially launching REALLY SOON, Sam and I are going to do an AMA on /r/gamedev, this Saturday, the 30th, at 11am Pacific/2pm Eastern. I'll post the link here right before it starts!
Ask us about anything you like! SDL, gamedev, or our favorite pizza, it's all good!

Hey! I know I just did this, but considering all the people being laid off, I wanted to put it out there again; If you could use help with your CV/Resume or career, my DMs are open and I will help as much as I can. Please RT and forward to people who might be interested.
@Monquit3st It's still on my todo list, but it's a bit tedious to implement in a non-hacky way. Not a lot of time/energy lately, so I've been focusing on other things. I'll get around to it at some point, though.
@map_quake Good question! Next IW version is going to make it easier to find screenshots/demos/savefiles by just clicking on console messages (even if you switch mods in the meantime):
@the_suicider In the meantime, though, I'd recommend trying vkQuake - it has comparable performance and QoL features with IW, but it does support FTE particles.
@the_suicider There's also the fact that the QSS implementation is (IIRC) comparable in size with the entirety of the IW renderer, which I've tried to keep nice and lean.
So, yeah, I'm not very excited about adding those effects, but I probably will, eventually.
@WiktorKasz Oh, interesting, I thought libcurl.dll was sufficient, but checking the dependencies it seems that it is indeed loading a zlib1.dll version installed by some other program on my system. Thanks for letting me know, I'll look into it!
It's been a while since my last ad_tears screenshot, so here's one taken on a beastly 15W Core i5 4210u from 2014 and its integrated HD Graphics 4400. If you've ever wondered "what's the point of optimizing a renderer into 4 digit FPS territory on modern GPUs", this is it.
@WiktorKasz Thanks! Unfortunately the renderer needs compute shaders and indirect draw support to reach this speed - right now it's targeting OpenGL 4.3+, but I think it should be possible to get it running on ES 3.1 with a few changes. That would still rule out RPI 3, though, AFAIK. Sorry!
Would you like to learn path tracing over the holidays? I created a workshop with 76 minutes of video presentation. Solve the @ShaderToy exercises as you watch, and you will have written your own ray and path tracer!
