We created gyms because modern day work no longer required physical activity. Without exercise, our muscles atrophy.
I predict we’ll need gyms for our brains too, once AI starts doing our knowledge work.
@jacob_posel@andrewfoxwell@HQForWork $500/mo. when a team spends $1,500/mo. on AI subscriptions seems high for shared memory.
Maybe the product is much more now that you talk about compute resources, etc.
After a closer review - prodded by brad - I'm not sure I know what HQ actually does :)
A recommendation from someone you trust...
I ran across a post in the @andrewfoxwell Slack group yesterday.
I said @HQForWork was priced insane.
Brad said I was dumb. He pays and it's worth it.
He then went on to go check, check, check to Alan who asked another question.
That's how fast you can go from no to yes on a product.
Now it's on the to do list to set up @jacob_posel
When you see actors say smart things I always get more impressed.
Multiple actors generally just say smart stuff about business and their methods.
Seinfeld was another.

Ben Affleck (Hollywood star & Artists Equity CEO) talks about how he fine-tunes open video models by unfreezing weights and trained only the last cinematic layer so a film crew can hit real production standards.
for context, Ben Affleck founded InterPositive in 2022, a 16-person AI shop for film post and Netflix bought it in March 2026 for $587 mn in cash.
He needed that model because public video models were trained on his peers' films, and he did not think that was a real business. So InterPositive raised money, shot its own dataset for 8 months on a controlled stage, and used it only as late-stage training.
Each new film then trains a private model on its own dailies, so the production keeps the footage and the learning. That is the product Netflix paid $587 million for.

For us it really depends. If there is value in the weekly call the team is there with bells on.
Too often it's just a default and too big a percentage of the retainer is spent preparing, doing and summarizing meetings.
But... At $15k/mo. there should be enough resources in the retainer that a weekly call makes sense.
Internal AI Usage Cap Memo:
In response to requests for increased AI budgets, they aren’t coming. And here’s why:
We currently offer 16x token spend per employee compared to the average of tech forward companies (Based on Ramp's spend data from 70,000 businesses). I say this to establish - for those of you who request increases, it is unlikely you will get it. Unlimited budgets create unlimited waste - a luxury we do not have. So, budget and use your tokens only on projects that have a clear revenue producing or cost savings. Otherwise, it's likely to be filed under "shit that doesn't matter and not worth spending money on."
To help you, we will be offering training(s) on:
How to figure out what's worth working on (biggest miss #1)
How to use fewer tokens to get same output (think of this like AI hygiene)
How to use the time AI saves you to be more effective
AI is a tool that creates leverage. It helps you get out more from what you put in. That said, company revenue is flat (relative terms) compared to AI usage increases. This suggests that people are (largely) using it on projects that don't matter, or are using it on things that do matter, then spending the saved time working on things that don't matter.
This discrepancy (difference between money we spend and money we make from AI) hints at a skill deficiency in the team. One which I hope we will train up - just as well as we trained up on AI usage.
So now that everyone is using it - it's time to use it well.
Let's crush Q4.

PS - The more clearly you can articulate how what you do generates a return, the more likely tokens will be in your future. And the way to maximize a return is to show HOW LITTLE you can use and HOW MUCH you can get from it.
