@MathsNot @atulrana @Just_Maths Sorry Graham. I honestly wasnt having a dig. I think the language of mini exams has crept into conversations Ive been having with schools and the implication is that they will be shorter in content.

@atulrana @Just_Maths @MathsNot I also think mini test or exam is misleading. If anything we should make the tests bigger so that kids have a wider choice of questions to demonstrate what they know.

@atulrana @Just_Maths @MathsNot Its an assessment in May not an examination. This is an important point thanks Graham. Why not give the kids formula sheets, extra time etc. An opportunity to assess what they know rather than how quick they are or how good their memory is for facts.

@Just_Maths We mapped 10,000 ks2 scaled scotes to 10,000 old money and assumed Trust population profile same over time.

Would be useful to all if this was done at a national level.

@PixiMaths Cosine rule is an extension to pythagoras theory when the angle isnt 90. If kids can see this they can generally sort out how to substitute.

@CP3fxy @360maths @mathsjem They key point which most are missing is that if you emphasise the division first it links nicely to the unitary method.

The other point is that we only used this approach when the scale factors get nasty.

Automating the calc helps students concentrate on the maths.
