I now have a #BlueSky account and will be posting there for the foreseeable future https://t.co/UK56J7hkSy
Will continue to check this Twitter account but unwilling to promote a polarising propaganda platform.
@CurlySpanner007@TheSecretAgron1 Looks like a Paulownia hybrid - project started in 2022/23 - fairly common in other parts of Europe (Germany and in Balkans i think) and in some USA southern states. We've been growing Paulownia Tomentosa (Foxglove tree) in the UK for many decades https://t.co/QSTqKglpop
Do you manage #woodland or other land with trees? @EdinburghNapier and @ForestryComm want to know about methods of #tree protection currently in use, so please fill out their survey at https://t.co/bf7DMsqGc2
@TonyJuniper@andyheald@BenGoldsmith More than happy to use the term plantation... compare the metrics of a 'bog standard plantation" undergoing UK Forestry Standard restructuring ie. phased harvesting, restocking etc and they would fair very favourably with Nature Friendly Farming.. even better if they r thinned
@rt_gale99@newsandpics@BenGoldsmith It would be interesting to see the approved restock map for the whole plantation - often there’s a significant drop in the area of Sitka when these first rotation blocks are felled and replanted.
@TonyJuniper@BenGoldsmith Same could be said for the term “grazing” .
In reality & practice there is differentiation about “forest” whether in woodland creation grant schemes, timber investments or when using the Woodland Carbon Code, or when applied to largely open areas like “Forest of Bowland”
@rt_gale99@newsandpics@BenGoldsmith “They” manage the majority of UK commercial forestry in line with both of the main international standards for sustainable forest management.
They are still felling 1st rotation crops, and often the limited BL planting isn’t windfirm, 2nd rotation will have less 🌲 & more 🌳
@TonyJuniper@BenGoldsmith With regard timber crops, agreed, are you suggesting that Short Rotation Forestry should be treated the same as Short Rotation Coppice ie as an agricultural crop and broadly similar to a wheat field, and so exempt from UKFS ?
Plenty interest already being show in this #crofting event, so best get booked in early! Join @WTScotsocial @scotforestry@philknott83 and Shetland Crofter Andrew Hall.

@NTBCC@jennipisces@theSpurtle That’s good to hear - I haven’t checked recently but last summer the middle tree looked fairly dead, and upper tree was also struggling a bit.
Perhaps the developer can improve conditions & space for them.
@cat_frampton@HPG_Farmer@MaryCreagh_@SteveReedMP If initial proposal doesn’t meet UKFS then it shouldn’t get approved. If a Forester thinks an application won’t be approved then they usually won’t waste much time pushing it fwd.
Some projects may not be implemented as per approved plan, and they sometimes may not get checked.
Nominate someone for the #ConforAwards25 Future Leader Award by 12pm 20 Dec. Last year's winner said: "The recognition means a lot to me because it highlights the support and opportunities I have had from a huge range of people throughout my career."

Working together is key to making migration safe for everyone, everywhere.
Echoing @KobusingeRose1's inspiring words: we have to work with people, not just for people.
