@C_Hendrick Half the lab effect is still a lot for something this cheap. My guess is dosage: in a real class, retrieval is the first thing cut when a lesson runs long. Does the review say anything about how faithfully schools ran it?
@MrZachG Same in my middle school room: if the right answer pops up, kids read it and move on. In Lessonroom a short answer can't be submitted until the sentence is grammatically correct. Slower in the moment, but they own the fix.
@DaveVanStory@Alphaschool@C_Hendrick@MrZachG I’ve built a working demo of Ai enabled software for 6-12. Would like to chat about the back end engine and the philosophy behind yours.
@C_Hendrick I have built beta of software for di. I can get output data showing “learning”, but do you have an opinion on freq or timing of recursive assessments ? It’s built in but I’m curious about the research here
@mpershan I think the problem with the —- test question -> ai torched question/drawing is there are too many assumptions. This is just digitization of test prep. Which is fine. But it’s not learning.
I have done this type of software, and it requires a lot of pedagogical backend.
@tinndfishmonger local bank near me did this. "Why is the rate high?" we offset subprime with charging higher rate for prime borrowers. "Nope"...out of business in 5 years.
@jarredgeller I think this is a very accurate take on the current state of parents view of edtech. I do not want my kids glued to screens chasing something. I want tech used only for what cannot be done at scale by a person. When complete, the screen goes away.
@Serin10212721@X NY. I'm building Lessonroom, a teacher-led adaptive learning platform where the AI works in the background to give students short Socratic hints and teachers/admins/parents real-time insight.
@benjaminjriley The next class. I would agree most kids are not reading full length books in majority of schools. Of course kids do, but it has decreased dramatically. They may assign a book, but ask any hs teacher how many do they think actually read. I never finished a book in HS 1990s.
