As a perpetually online adtech guy (who was not in attendance at the event, though our company was repped), I haven't seen or heard about this. It was only your thread that caused me to try searching for it, and I couldn't find anything. Just sharing for some perspective 🙏 Best!
@humanpropensity I'd love ad category control!... Have you tried using the dedicated YouTube Kids app/site? There's also Ad-Free YouTube for $139.99 per year...
@EricTilbury_RTB@HatesAdtech@JohnathanBarnes Doesn't "ad network" imply an arbitrage business model? Seeing a lot of conflation of "direct to supply" and "ad network" these days... While not mutually exclusive, I don't see TTDs Open Path strategy as an ad network. I'm less familiar with the business mechanics of AppLovin...
If you're building ad tech products in the AI era with an interface more complex than "an easy button", you're missing the mandate... flexibility and control are necessary, but are secondary to automation.
Google cut 10% of its privacy sandbox team, the first time the 250+ team that was supposed to usher the web into private advertising, had layoffs.
And Meta is working on facial recognition in its glasses, which previously the company had seen as too risky
@mikeosullivan@aripap When did IX bring a single SSP CPM bidder into the header? PubMatic was in-market with that product when I joined in June 2014 (was released even earlier). At the time, we viewed Criteo and Amazon A9 as the front-runners with that tech.
@cvanderhook The self-serve UI/UX (arguably the only decent one in mid-2010s) drove the agencies to select TTD as that alternative. And margins are only scrutinized when performance/ROAS is flat. UI/UX + Performance = Product.
