@TeaChaiLa@ninadparab@ManishEarth@avtansa Aanglabhasha? Isn't इंग्रजी the native word? Also worth noting that when modernisation of Marathi was happening at a large scale, during the Marathas, Marathi had already come in contact with English (much after portugese) so English loan words replacing others is expected, no?
@BreezeAmal The equalization of fares would really improve QoL for the people. Nagpur however lags severaly in fleet size, as the CMP in 2025 recommended 2000+ buses for the city (about 600/mil)

@AnuragBhole4@31_nagpur Oh we're severely behind in that metric!
MoHUA recommends at least 400, for which on Bengaluru qualifies. According to the CMP, Nagpur needs a fleet of about 2000 buses. :(

Nagpur's AC e-bus fare is nearly the same as non AC bus fare!
Aapli bus has an active fleet of 503 now, i.e ~140+buses/million people (more than Mumbai) of which 409 are e-buses. NMC also has 195 diesel buses, to be phased out. The target fleet is 850 ebuses (250 buses/mil)
In part 2 of public transport of Indian cities, we cover the most important network for a city - bus network. And the city bus fleet in India is just NOT ENOUGH.
Global benchmark is at 800-1000 buses per million people but even the top ranking Indian city is at only half of it.
@chriskost@AmeyKulkarni_21@MMRDAOfficial Nagpur. It was a pilot stretch along the metro corridor. The above picture is a bit old, it looks greener and better now, but there's still a lot of work to be done with maintenance. This stretch has a cycle track and a pedestrian track.
Walking infra is the most probably the cheapest yet most impactful infra spend that a city can make
Mumbai, Pune does have good Foothpaths, but they are limited. Hope @MMRDAOfficial also spend some amount to make Mumbai MMR more walkable and more accessible by
@AmeyKulkarni_21@MMRDAOfficial The first picture is from Nagpur. This was a pilot of sorts and is (ever so slowly) expanding to other areas. However, maintenance and checking encroachment, including parking on foothpaths, remains to be done. Here are pictures of at least two other roads where this was done.
@indianurbanism3 Land acquisition approval ahs been recieved for both of them and will probably start soon. This is along with the Nagpur Bhandara Gondia expressway. All of these are projected as the the eastern extensions of the Samruddhi Expressway.
This is the first time ever most people in Vidarbha would have recieved an emergency alert on their phone.
Our administrators seriously need to look at the environment.
@indianurbanism3 This is so cute! They have also included the CRRC trains for Nagpur which were leased to Pune, and are now back retaining the purple livery! :)
@InspireeMilions I think Nashik and CSN would also be in this list. Looking at how will auric is doing, it is enviable as a Nagpurkar. Our leaders need to step up.
Metro commuters in Nagpur are demanding that the trains be run for extended hours! Interestingly, according to this TOI report 19 hours of operations were advised (5am-12am). The frequency and timings have been increased based in user demand before too! This is a great thing!
In 25-26, metro in Nagpur is meeting is projections better than Ahmedabad and almost as well as Hyderabad! Kochi is ahead of Mumbai L3, but surprisingly low for their amazing last mile options. Mumbai L3 will pick up with time. Also, Chennai is the best performer! (1/2)
@harshalj1219 This is interesting, but aqua line doesn't go to Ajni.
Ideally, the Indora-Dighori flyover should have been a metro line that would have served this area.

While Pune and Blr are debating elevated/tunnel roads, ignoring public transit, Nagpur is already going full steam ahead. The green line is a flyover that is being built. orange and blue are existing metro line and purple is what could have been
@streetfrontier@indianurbanism3
@bhaumikgowande These are being increasingly used in Nagpur in such situations too, but they are not well maintained at all and frequently stop working.
The one in this picture has a solar panel and was put under a flyover. 😭
