Think blended learning is all about kids being on devices? Think again. In 90 seconds, learn how this approach helps teachers spend more time with students.
A dream of our media specialist would be to incorporate D.E.A.R at the MS. I would love for this to happen as well—even if it’s only 15 minutes on Friday’s! Maybe her dream can come true. @tcjacketsbuzz 💞#SWCultureofLiteracy@LisaGilligan4
@colbywilkins I am sorry. We basically had something very similar happen to us—but it was a younger pastor who went behind our backs and then “solicited slander” about us. I feel for you & your family. I lost faith in people but not my God. Fight the good fight my friend!
Found this too late for text set assignment, but will share with the 7th grade science teachers for their study of genetics! So many great resources to use here. @LisaGilligan4#SWReadingEndorsement
#SWGASinglePointRubric@LisaGilligan4 Sample of a single point rubric to use on the 4 reading strategies I taught in my practicum. This was designed for a final assessment that covered all 4 at once…not what I would typically do necessarily. But it works!
Loved these ideas! I liked the note-taking idea for content teachers. After talking for 5-10 min., have them write about what you lectured. That’s THINKING & requires listening! I also want to try the classroom reflection idea for myself! @LisaGilligan4

In this article- it explains why journal writing is important in all content areas! I have found for my kindergarten students that journal writing across all content areas is extremely important!

Thanks for this article. I’ve been wanting to try it in my class & near the end of this article it explains how to introduce & scaffold the RAFT writing process. I’m glad you are using this in your SS class to support writing I the content areas!
I like to use the RAFT writing strategy in my social studies class to encourage creative writing for a varied audience. #SWGAContentLearning@LisaGilligan4 https://t.co/Cna5TpN023

My students love this activity every Monday. They are eager to see who guessed correctly when the caption is revealed on Thursday!

I believe the "Asking the 4 W's Strategy" would be great to use with this "Captions for Illustrations" Lesson! https://t.co/Br7M10oDpF #SWVisualLiteracy@LisaGilligan4
Great suggestions for teachers starting out with the very young learners! Look for facial expressions, gestures, etc. things that could sometimes be easily overlooked and are obvious clues.
I love this idea Ms. Lockett! You could even do this with the youngest learners by having them verbally give words and phrases to describe the image & write their ideas on notecards or sentence strips!
This is a great article to explain visual learning, and it gives practical strategies to teach it. I really liked the 4 Ws strategy. It forces the students to think beyond just what they see.

This goes right along with our reading in Classrooms that work this week. You can have the students use the pictures in a text or content newsletter and do prediction writing! Love pictures as teaching tools especially for ELL!!!
Pictures are a great way to teach reading skills! So many kids are visual learners. The options are LIMITLESS! You can have students do the most basic task within the skill, to the most complex. You can even include science and social studies! #SWVisualliteracy
@LisaGilligan4#SWGAContentLearning I love this vacation idea…I may have ordered the vocabulary book for next year. Need to check out the Greek & Latin roots since that is pertinent to OG advanced instruction!
Morphology Monday!
This week’s word root (vac-) anticipates the end of the school year and summer vacation!
Include word root instruction in prof reading & summer school.

“Caption a Photograph or Meme” is a great way to show how an image can be interpreted differently by people & yet, still have accurate meaning. Give them a pic, have them caption, discuss choices, & reveal true caption. @LisaGilligan4#SWVisualLiteracy https://t.co/tVAAsgHqpn
