@algekalipso My ideal political ideology is probably something like robustly-benevolent-complex-systemism: Using cultural memetic evolutionary theory, institutional incentives, markets, feedback loops, etc to transition to the basins most beneficial to consciousness flourishing long term.
@NandoDF Embarrasingly I only thought of it symbolically (product rule done backwards). I wish it was taught geometrically to me because this is more intuitively simple for me.
@thkostolansky Higher order thought (you can reflect on your authorship of the decision process), active inference (prediction error from self model is minimized through action creating sense of volition), abstraction (lower level stuff is opaque to you), counterfactual reasoning
@Aella_Girl I’m curious about your level of stats knowledge. Eg could you explain what a sufficient statistic is, do you know what a uniformly most powerful test is?
That's the spine. Fair hit. That's something to sit with. A real observation. That’s the whole thing. Sharpen that: say the word. Notice the arc of what just happened. One honest caveat: the full amount, stated plainly. Genuinely. Quietly. Honestly. That’s doing real work.
Active inference and agent foundations are two deeply insightful approaches to understanding intelligence.
In this post I gesture towards how agent foundations could incorporate the core insight of active inference: that goals, actions and beliefs are all the same kind of thing.
@QiaochuYuan Very smart people tend to be very densely clustered and connected. Elite industry (quant finance, AI labs, etc), olympiads, elite academia (phil, STEM), LW/tpot, top conferences, bay area, oxford, cambridge, nyc, boston.
@Razako3147500@brigham_john11@vividvoid We’re hominids, hominids bond with each other and signal non threatening motives by being playful with each other. Men who successfully joke with women are doing it out of abundance confidence and generous spirit, not neediness for her approval.
