I can't stay on twitter anymore. Not even to watch the spectacle of its decline and the most expensive mid-life crisis in history.
I'll leave my account active for another week or so for DMs.
If you went to stay in touch, send me a message.
Twitter Inc has famously *always* failed to understand what they had in their hands from either a social or engineering perspective and squandered and worked against twitter's own strengths at every point.
The most ill-conceived idea that seems to have ossified among certain group of people is that Twitter was failing because the engineering culture wasn’t high-performing enough
The problem with Twitter was product and leadership, and not engineering not executing well enough.
Tesla stock is now down 49% since Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter in April, losing over half a trillion dollars in market valuation.
Just in the three and a half weeks since Musk took over Twitter on October 28, Tesla stock is down 27%, losing $190 billion in value.
@naomialderman I am autistic and know a lot of other autistic people. I've not heard of this being a thing.
Worth noting that Aspergers is now outdated language and a (literal) product of Nazism. Autistic is now the accepted language for everyone on the spectrum

The fastest way to find your Twitter friends on Mastodon is to run Debirdify (https://t.co/LQukvwkFEH), export the list to your computer, and upload into Mastodon to follow them all. Here's a guide with step-by-step instructions. @j_graber

Story to be updated soon with more: Am hearing that several “critical” infra engineering teams at Twitter have completely resigned. “You cannot run Twitter without this team,” one current engineer tells me of one such group. Also, Twitter has shut off badge access to its offices.
@swaldman@urbaneprofessor As you say, low voltage circuits would be feasible at room-scale, but would obviously require a new standard for driverless bulbs.
I'd guess if this were to take off anywhere, it would start in commercial/industrial lighting and then filter down to residential.
@swaldman@urbaneprofessor The current standard of integrated drivers is obviously to ease the transition and allow LED bulbs to be installed in existing fittings. There are now light *fittings* with integrated drivers, but the bulbs aren't generally replaceable.
@danluu Honest, naive question. What's stopping Twitter from spinning out or releasing some of these projects?
Are they too specific and idiosyncratic to twitter to be useful more broadly?
