@IsZomg@NileMcmillion@boxcardavid Yeah but the sun's surface is very large. What if you bent all the light from all sides... You're saying that you could not exceed the temp of say one square meter of the sun's surface using the light from the entire sun?
@WarnerTeddy So this is cool. But ultimately one of those things that is like.... More fun to make than to actually have in your, you know? I've made many such gadgets.
@HansMokeNiemann I think this move by lichess is super interesting. I hope that their deal with TTT is not an exclusive arrangement. How cool would it be if anyone could plug into the lichess backend via an open integration. You could build niche experiences that actually have opponents to play.
@NikkoCaruso@musicboxtheatre@projecthailmary Oh cool. Though I just read they shot it digitally. And that they ran it through film during the mastering to remove the digital aesthetic. Which means for the 70mm print they shot it digitally, put it on film, scanned the film, then put it back on film.
@NikkoCaruso@musicboxtheatre@projecthailmary I assumed that the appeal of 70mm projection prints is you'd get film-captured footage presented in a medium that preserves its tone and grain characteristics. Or is that not the point?
@NikkoCaruso@musicboxtheatre@projecthailmary Interesting that they did a 70mm release for what I assume is a pretty cgi heavy production. For the parts without the alien, were they captured on film? Would watching Avatar on 70mm be better than digital large format? What and a film like toy story?
@lennyandlyle@ShabazzStuart I have frequently thought about it and arrived at this: by middle of the street the lyrics likely mean that it is in the middle of the block. That is to say there are a roughly equal number of houses on each side of it.
@saywhatagain Hey this episode appears to be missing from Patreon and Spotify. What gives? Want to be able to turn my phone screen off while listening.
