@KarnatakaVarthe Thank you 🙏 for granting a 60-day age relaxation. This thoughtful decision has brought great relief and happiness to many children and their families.
Thank you Hon’ble Education Minister @Madhu_Bangarapp for considering a 60-day relaxation for Grade 1 admissions.
This brings much-needed relief to kids affected by the age criteria policies.
We truly appreciate your sensitivity and support for students and parents🙏
@ANI Everyone is saying that cutoff is a cutoff and some one is bound to miss it. But i feel 6 years as of 31st May is very high cutoff. Earlier it was 5 years then 5.5 years and now 6 years, which is too long. If its 6 years then it shld be as of 31st December and not 31st May

#WATCH | Bengaluru | A parent says, "We have been following up for the last two years, when we met the CM, Deputy CM and Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa. We have got assurance from the CM and the Deputy CM. As parents, we want the best for our children. These are children born during Covid times, and they have already faced a lot of emotional and psychological stress. Making them repeat a class will take a toll on their psychological health. We have full faith in the government of Karnataka. I am sure they will prove 90-day relaxation to more than 2 lakh affected children."
#WATCH | Bengaluru | Parents of children who do not meet the Class 1 age cut-off criteria (6 years of age) in the New Education Policy hold a demonstration requesting the Karnataka govt to give a 90-day relaxation to ensure children do not have to repeat UKG or Montessori
A parent says, "It is not a protest but a request to the govt to promote children who have completed three years of pre-primary education to Class 1. Our children are not meeting the 6-year age cut-off under the NEP. For children, repeating a class will cause psychological stress. The institutions are open to it and don't want children to repeat, but we are waiting for the govt to give relaxation in the rule or expedite SEP implementation."
When Policy Decides a Child’s First Step
78 years after independence, why is India’s education system still failing children? The Grade 1 age-limit policy affects millions — yet remains largely ignored.
