Kindness is not superior to integrity.

Prosocial shame: it's what's for dinner.
@KaskaJessica Absolutely. I mean, usually really odd-looking ones because of the male frame they're on, but yes. Almost all dudes who take estrogen will lump up on their chests.
@coriposting Not much of a discourse, really. Mental illness is often very difficult to overcome. Add in a porn addiction and it's exponentially more difficult.
It's not even surprising. Just sad, gross, and back to annoying.
Exactly 👏 Sex can be predicted from additive combinations of personality traits, cognitive abilities, interests and behaviours. Even small average differences accumulate in multivariate space, producing substantial predictive power.
But this says nothing about within-sex uniformity. Ten men may all be identifiable as male from their overall profile, yet each may possess a completely different combination of traits. Group differences do not imply that males or females come in rigid behavioural templates.
This is why I find the logic of “non-binary” unconvincing. If men and women encompass enormous variation, then atypical interests, personalities, or behaviours do not place someone outside those categories. They simply reflect the diversity already present within them.
Defining oneself as neither male nor female because one does not conform to stereotypes seems to promote the very stereotypes one claims to reject. If everyone possesses a unique trait profile, then uniqueness itself cannot be what makes someone “non-binary”. At that point, the label appears more political or philosophical than descriptive of a distinct category
@burnthelilacs Outside of the fetishists & the non-binary attention-seekers, I don’t think anyone is doing any of this for kicks.
It’s a bespoke mental illness crafted by queer theory & the internet.
All the symptoms are psychosomatic.
@SimonAmayaPrice Certainly it spreads like wildfire in friend groups and even within families.
The fact of the social contagion aspect is desperately obvious.
@SimonAmayaPrice That’s a fair point. And a good observation.
I was being silly, but I do largely agree.
Social media has broken the reward system in so many people’s brains, and trans is one of the strangest results.
@BanditBolles@css_st_hdrst The one I knew best was 16, too. Very sweet kid & charismatic, but yes, very unstable.
She’s 23, now. Completely male-passing. Mildly incontinent from the T. Uncomfortable from the vaginal atrophy & clitoromegaly most waking hours. An alcoholic.
Still sweet. Still charismatic.
@SchizoMellie@colligocritters If there’s any upside to this silly stretch of societal history, it’s that the TRAs have been so relentless & ridiculous, it’s done a comprehensive job of taking the sting and worry out of the word “transphobe”.
