the new State of Fertility Report for the US just came out and it’s a real blackpill
the main findings are basically:
- the current fertility decline is worse than any other
- if this keeps going, US population will start declining in less than a generation, much sooner than most forecasts assumed
- americans still want about 2.4 children, but are having fewer than 1.6
- culture matters A LOT. supportive friends, people around you and even celebrities affect how many children people want
- if policymakers actually want to change this, it will require a lot of money and serious interventions
people often say america was built by immigrants, but around 80% of all the people who have ever lived in america were born there and without american children there's no america left
you can use immigration to support population growth for a while, but no country can survive indefinitely if the people already there stop having children
My dad took a crack at reporting today after witnessing some of the flooding that’s been hitting South Texas.
The small town of Tilden, TX is expecting major flooding tonight with estimates that the river could rise up to 28 feet
Good job dad I must get my talent from you!! 😆
Reminder: The Tren de Aragua gang members accused of kidnapping, torturing, and attempting to kill a Washington state woman last year worked seasonal jobs in the agricultural industry across several states.
Nearly 20 senators absent from a vote on a federal appellate court judge today, which is just the sixth day this entire month the Senate has been in active session.
Weird how we aren’t getting any WSJ editorials on AWOL senators or a MIA Senate.
In light of recent declassified information regarding the CCP’s efforts to interfere in U.S. elections I have written a letter to @SecRubio urging him to immediately cancel and/or suspend any and all F-1 and J-1 student visas held by Chinese nationals.
Again - the last time Congress successfully passed a full, annual budget on time for the next fiscal year was 1997. A lot of people on this platform weren't even alive. Congress cannot fulfill its core obligation - but it can work up another amnesty.
Washington hands out food stamps, housing aid, and cash to illegal aliens while American families struggle. That ends with my End Welfare for Non-Citizens Act.
You work, pay taxes, and follow the law. Meanwhile, Washington funnels your money to non-citizens through welfare programs riddled with fraud.
I introduced the End Welfare for Non-Citizens Act to end this practice.
The Founders never intended for 20 MILLION migrants to invade our country.
They also never intended for Congress to do NOTHING about it. Pass my Anchors Away Act, and send the birth tourists HOME.
It is legitimately shocking that there are currently no background checks for Congressional staffers given the type of information they often have access to.
Can’t imagine any legitimate justification for opposing this measure…
I know countless millions of people love soccer, and it can be a thrilling game, as we witnessed repeatedly during the World Cup, but it suffers from a fundamental structural flaw.
Because offense is in such short supply at this level, scoring is highly dependent on penalties.
This means that scoring often comes outside the normal flow of play, and incentives flopping and pretend injuries that are unworthy of grown men—you think someone rolling around the turf in agonizing pain is going to have to be transported immediately to the hospital, then you look up and he’s played another 45 minutes, no problem.
Then, there’s the courting of artificial penalties—a player steps in front of another, gets bumped, and proceeds to pretend he got shot.
Whatever the other merits of soccer, this stuff is a blight on the game and brings an element of low comedy to even the highest-stakes competition.
