Customs officials seem to get much more serious when you say the purpose of your trip is to look for housing and then ask a bunch of confusing jargonny questions and get annoyed when you don't know how to answer. ๐
This year's submissions have been a combination of awe and wonder, and laugh-out-loud silliness. Can't wait to show them off. Also @vividfax is absolutely killing it with the main app design again.
Yay! The article I worked on with Anastasia Salter about using crafting metaphors into our gaming classes has been published today in @MAIfeminism! The special issue is full of amazing articles, and is well worth a look! https://t.co/dL46O8uRUt
This reminds me of some research @gillianmsmith, @SevenFridays, and I did around the importance of doodling as a way to understand GenAI at @dagstuhl. This is a great read!
this is one of the deepest insights i've gotten from a CHI paper -- not surprised it came from @fabulousQian, @nikola_banovic and @cmuhcii's own JZ
if you're creating with GenAI, sit with it for a moment

The ultimate result of this is not just training AI models on archival data, its training ourselves to access archives through AI models. This is a way of justifying and legitimising them through cultural institutions
It's time to introduce some of our speakers for 2024! Starting off with the inimitable Tommy Thompson of @AIandGames, who'll be doing what he does best: taking us on a tour of the weird and the wonderful of AI for games.

Doing the new faculty orientation at York and when people heard I am from the US they either wanted to talk about our obsession with guns or our presidential election. The shooting alert I got from Georgia Tech's notification system did not help dispel these stereotypes.
The guy with the gun ended up running off, but before he got away totally, he fell over when his pants fell down. I couldn't make this stuff up. Very glad no one was hurt but I'm not sure I'm hardcore enough for midtown.
I moved to midtown about two weeks ago and within a week I witnessed a gun/knife fight on Piedmont outside my apt building. At least no one has shat on the sidewalk outside the apt yet?
For the record, even though 4 shots were fired and the other guy had two knives with one being as long as his forearm, no one was hurt. Cops said they couldn't do anything even though some dude is shooting a gun in the middle of the city.
