My new essay on feminist #UX methodologies is open access in the proceedings of ACM @sigdoc . I’m humbled to receive an honorable mention in #SIGDOC23’s best paper competition, as this article was shortlisted among the top six papers from the conference. https://t.co/qy3d1IgJqg
Anybody know of studies on the literacy of older adults (age 65+) in the United States, post-1998? I'm finding a bunch of "health literacy" stuff, but the National Literacy Institute, National Center for Education Statistics, etc. seem to think that reading stops at age 64?
@mountain_goats Y’all were great tonight! John, do you still want to do a PhD in rhetoric and composition? I am an English prof who is happy to help you workshop your application materials. Also have a group of 15+ faculty who are willing to co-sign a letter of recommendation.
I'm on the search committee for this position and am happy to answer questions. We also have 3 open Asst. Prof positions in Digital Media (STS/Design Research, Critical Media Studies) and Literature (Post-1945, non-US Anglophone) on the GT Careers site: https://t.co/w58KtnJ5Kz

#a11y hivemind: what, if anything, can be done for accessibility for looping videos on websites? I'm thinking about a video description or equivalent to alt text for a still image. For example, the video overlay banner on the homepage of this coffee site: https://t.co/b6QqN04dUu

Jocelyn Le, a 4th-year Computational Media major, is one of five students representing @GeorgiaTech at this weekend’s 2025 ACC Meeting of the Minds Undergraduate Research Symposium, celebrating undergraduate research and creative inquiry at the 18 Atlantic Coast Conference member schools.
Jocelyn studies the use of serious (video) games as a tool for advocacy, with Allegra Smith in @gt_lmc. Video games are a site for narrative and decision-making to allow players to engage in situations to which they might not normally be exposed.
Jocelyn has created a game that challenges players to empathize with characters and be educated about the effects of various modes of gender-based discrimination. #WHM #WomensHistoryMonth

Listening to a fantastic talk by @RobertTalbert on 4 pillars of alternate grading methods: clearly defined standards, helpful feedback, marks indicating progress, and reattempts without penalty. His recommendations on feedback remind me of @billhd’s work. https://t.co/cfwkhHRCeV
