Underrated author you wished other people know
For me, its Izumi Suzuki. I'm obsessed with her from the first collection of stories, Terminal Boredom. She was an interesting author in the realm of science fiction genre with her own twists, creating a world she pulled of so well
After years of reading submissions, I must say, if I were going to get an MFA, I would apply to Syracuse & pray to get in. I believe Syracuse students & grads are doing really unique, stand-out work.
Just finished @ClaireLombardo's epic "Same as it Ever Was," and I have no idea why she isn't getting the same treatment Jonathan Franzen did years ago. She writes with the same verbal dexterity, four times the psychological acuity, ten times the magic, and twenty times the heart.
I have ended
the campaign
that I started
for president
the one which
you probably
knew
was insane
forgive me
a worm ate part of my brain
so sweet
and so cold
Today the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals issued an opinion in @penguinrandom v Robbins, a lawsuit challenging book bans in Iowa.
The Court rejected the government speech doctrine, joining every other court to date in finding that the First Amendment applies in school libraries.
@KathMSchmidt I’m an SU alum and my 2 daughters both went there (youngest graduated in Dec). I know it’s early but if you have questions, happy to answer them.
When I read FLUX by Jinwoo Chong two years ago, I was blown away. Ambitious and stylistically bold with a big heart and a deep message, I screamed when I got the email that he picked me as his agent.

On this International Women's Day, my gift to you is a book recommendation: FORBIDDEN NOTEBOOK by Alba de Céspedes
The critics call it "fierce" and "subversive" and it's an amazing read.

“Before he was a dungeon-pilfering rogue, a Starfleet captain, or a handsome prince, Chris Pine was an English major… dude still loves to read. And he reads everything.”

@DanBlank It’s amazing. 3, 4, or 5-liter, timer to turn on, stays hot all day, can set hold temp and lower energy than bringing a kettle to a boil multiple times.
Was our most used appliance; I think we’re on year 15. Just bought a Zojirushi water boiler, because I drink tea all day long, and I would give up my husband before living without one again.
The fact that this rice cooker worked for 25+ years of constant usage without fail makes me want to praise its engineers -- and the fact that the new model is identical to the old suggests they knew they got it right.
