Excuses irritate me.

I don’t want to hear about why you can’t do something. I want to hear you ask, “Hey Coach, what can I still do?” Seriously, no one wants to hear your sob story. It doesn’t matter. It’s the past. What are you going to do now?

After 20 years of pushing my body hard here’s my list of injuries:

1. Twice separated AC joint of the left shoulder.
2. Torn labrum and torn rotator cuff in the left shoulder.
3. Torn distal bicep tendon on left arm.
4. Tore both pec minors about 5 years apart.
5. Grade two hamstring tear on the right leg.
6. The meniscus in my right knee has been essential ground away causing instability but no pain. (Yet)
7. Herniated discs C4/C5
8. Torn UCL tendon in both elbows… thanks Jiu jitsu

I’m probably forgetting some things in there too. The point is, there’s always a way to work around things. Always. Certainly I will not be doing what I once did at the peak of my strongman days, but I’m healthier, fitter, and all around more capable. In many areas I’m stronger. Also, my 37 year old self could beat the absolute brakes off of 27 year old me.

I could tell the same story of a number of friends. I’ll never forget in 2019 Anthony Fuhrman had me wrap his knee which was quite literally falling apart and would later be replaced, so he could run a thousand lb yoke. Aaron Blackford is a specimen and has some serious injuries that haven’t slowed him down at all.

There are two types of people, victims/ excuse makers & winners. Which are you?

@Stathies @FreckledLiberty If you're meeting women at a bar for hookups then maybe a body cam is good advice. Teach the kid some traditional values, teach him to look for women with similar values, and that won't be near as bad a problem.
