@kamauwaruhiu The emotional abuse I went through as a child really lowered my self esteem. Made me "shy and quiet". I blocked my parents last year, I miss them but I can't really get their yelling voices out of my head. Sometimes I can't tell if it's me talking or their voice.

I have seen a trend on TikTok where parents are saying when they realized they lost their connection with their children. The stories there are heart breaking 😭😭😭😭 . There is one that I found particulary sad , it says a man went to pay school fees and found children leaving for a school trip . He was surprised because his son never mentioned anything about that school trip , he found him in the class room alone reading a book . The son said he knew he would have said no and didn't bother.
Another one always thought his daughter was a quite girl , he took her to his sisters over the holidays and told her as much. When it was time to go pick her up ,he could hear her from the gate laughing and talking . Turns out it years of telling her to shut up had made her quite. Her sisters husband was more laid back and never complained when the children played around him . After a few days of being quiet she learnt it was safe to talk and play around the house.
