If your website has ~5+ years of SEO history and has been negatively impacted by Google updates, unfortunately, you can no longer compare yourself to the shiny new competitor who came out of nowhere and is now outranking you. 🧵
Yeah, you're not alone:
Google Discover traffic is dropping to 0 for many sites with this core update.
I still wonder where it's all going. I'm seeing way more decreases than increases.

Whoa, new feature in @semrush. They rolled out a SERP feature upgrade. i.e. The urls, position, & est. traffic from 38 SERP features like Top Stories, PAA, Recipes, Web Stories, etc. It's in the keyword overview reporting & the organic research reporting https://t.co/nPt9QwWtD5
One challenge with using ChatGPT to come up with new article ideas is cross-referencing your site's existing articles to see if you've already written that content.
Here's one approach I've been using... it's not entirely scientific but it gets the job done🧵
20+ SEO experiments to try.
The most interesting from my perspective:
- title: add “free shipping”
- title: remove your brand
- meta description: action words like “buy” or “download”
- delete some elements
- move blocks
- Exact vs. broad match anchors

Google recently updated their SEO Link Best Practices Documentation
As someone obsessed with internal linking, here are 3 quick observations that jumped out! 🧵1/7
Google updated its documentation about site names in the SERPs. Google supports site names at the domain-level, not subdomain or subdirectory. But, m-dot and www are considered domain-level to Google. Learn more in the support doc: https://t.co/u25sK2VdfS
