This is very disingenuous framing for what amounts to a tax grab. Kalshi is a CFTC regulated exchange offering event contracts, not unlicensed street gambling. Federal oversight already exists, states don’t get to unilaterally ban federally approved markets just because they prefer the tax revenue from traditional sportsbooks. Driving users offshore or into less regulated alternatives doesn’t protect New Yorkers; it does the opposite.
