When I met Vice President Vance just hours before the war began, I formed an impression that both he and the President had a genuine and strong preference to avoid the entanglements of war. So I urge that the ceasefire be extended and talks continue. Success may require everyone to make painful concessions, but this is nothing as compared to the pain of failure and war.
@davidmcw The problem is the geometry really. The wall to wall width of the roads isn’t that wide. It has to be shared with all modes. There aren’t very many north-south traffic lanes for the amount of activity and population so it’s hard to take away traffic lanes..
@ciaraobrien@IrishTimes reading your article about X. What makes you say X wouldn’t be liable? The law seems very clear. X certainly is criminally liable for this .
@Keyes@lorcansirr One thing he almost points out is that AHB and local authority housing are both based on a tax break th we t isn’t available to private sector: they don’t pay any tax at whatsoever on their income.
@davidmcw@PiarasMurphy Separately there is a much bigger problem. We don’t plan (as you point out.) in a few years we won’t have a usable sites left. We need to plan new cities, with strong public transport links to existing ones.
@AIBIreland hello, I just got this. It’s a fairly sophisticated phishing operation. They have a guy with a plausible accent answering the phone number. (I am not an AIB customer, don’t have any app.)
@XEnergyIreland@NuclearIreland This wasn’t the price of electricity generally, this was the non-market price SEM paid for balancing energy. Less than 3 percent of energy traded at this price as far as I can tell?
Ireland falls further behind on emissions targets making billions in fines more likely https://t.co/qUR4PA5yWy @KOSullivanIT the energy sector target isn’t really binding though? There’s a carve-out for it in the Act.
@GTCost@beingianbergin Most Ryanair flights (within EU) are subject to ETS and emissions are therefore capped. Carbon is already priced in. The flight going ahead or not going ahead makes no difference to overall carbon emissions.
