#WATCH | Chandigarh: On Indian Army Pilot proposed to his girlfriend after passing out parade, Lt General (Rtd) KJS Dhillon says, "... After the passing-out parade, a young officer, a helicopter pilot, proposed to his girlfriend or fiancée. The photo went viral with all sorts of reactions coming in. Some called it a breach of discipline, others called it a security issue, while some felt soldiers shouldn’t do such things... But in my view, if we expect a soldier’s patriotism to be so strong that he’s ready to sacrifice his life, then why question his personal love? If he expresses love on social media or otherwise, it doesn’t diminish discipline; it just shows a young spirit... I don't think there's any breach here. It was a heartfelt moment, not worth overreacting. We should accept it gracefully."
You want the young officer to sacrifice his life for the love of the Nation, but you don’t want him to express his love for his fiancée.
In the Army we say ‘Youngster nahi karega, toh kaun karega’.
If you can not find a fault in his professional capabilities, don’t do this nuktachini for such a pure gesture of love and belonging.
Military equipment has been on display during many ‘Know your Army’ exhibitions around the country. The students and non military personnel have clicked pics with it showing pride and love for the Army. So, please don’t bring in the national security angle into this.
Let the young soldier do his national duty with pride and honour 👍

India successfully tested TARA (Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation) system, an indigenous glide weapon kit developed by DRDO and Indian Air Force. It can convert conventional unguided bombs into precision-guided strike weapons. TARA represents India’s push for self-reliance.
Our soldiers have to fight a battle with their own government for their rightful dues, it’s strange , real strange
Just because our serving soldiers cant have any association so they don’t have a voice
Can we the citizens of this great nation help our soldiers raising their voice
Let us raise our voice louder
Let us be their voice

Ladies and gentlemen, and specifically my brethren in uniform, spare just 6 minutes and 27 seconds to understand from Col Mukul how NFU, which the armed forces deserve the most, is being denied without reason to the officers of armed forces. Eleven years and a joke played by the government and judiciary, along with the senior hierarchy of the armed forces. Just look at the permanent commission and promotion of women short service officers- the judiciary is so proactive. The judiciary wanted to appear as a crusader for women's rights, so the judgements came quickly. I am not saying the cause was wrong; the women officer had merit in the case . However, why does the judiciary behave completely differently when it comes to male officers, whether in cases of SHORT SERVICE officers or NFU to others? It is simply because male officers are seen as rivals. Imagine a force respected and loved by the people and also treated honourably in pay and perks- that would be a massive power block. Nobody is ready to accept that. This matter will go to the 8th pay commission. Things have already been settled back https://t.co/Sm0fITtQKG judgement will come, and the officers will still be standing with a begging bowl, praying for their rightful emoluments. My view on the matter is- and remember, I am a fifth-generation member of this great Indian army- stop pleading and be straightforward and assertive in your demands. Time will show you the way to victory.
Battle over NFU- a long fight by our Armed Forces for equity so that the same policy that raises pay scales in other services without a promotion applies to the military. Why is Media Ignoring this? Our show with @Vedmalik1@Warrior_Mukul@Sood_2 - In full https://t.co/Mow7AraxVC
It is unfortunate that there is hardly any understanding in the Government about the grief this disparity is causing. With control levers in hands of few who virtually run the country as kitchen cabinet showering privileges and entitlements beyond the work they deliver. Political dispensation has neither the time nor understanding of the nuances. @adgpi@TinyDhillon
NFU to Armed forces is not a privilege to be granted.
It’s the obligation of the grateful nation to those who get superseded at young age not bcoz of their incompetence but bcoz of lesser vacancies in the higher ranks, unlike other services where literally everyone rises to the highest rank & also get Non Functional Upgrade (NFU).
These young officers are the cutting edge during operations & continue to serve the nation inspite of zero career progression chances, earning gallantry awards, getting wounded or killed in action … it’s their commitment that has to be recognised and honoured.
Let’s not fail our brave uniformed soldiers for a few pennies or some whimsical attitude.
Our Armed forces are the best and they deserve the best 👍
