brass solidarity band performing “stand by me” in the streets of whittier next to alex pretti’s memorial. the crowd started chanting “the people united will never be defeated” so they incorporated it into the song. i love minneapolis
Understand that if ICE/Border Patrol ran the same playbook it’s running in Minneapolis to Philadelphia/Milwaukee/Atlanta/Detroit during Election Day, it would absolutely depress turnout enough in those cities to change the outcome of an entire Presidential election. Don’t say it can’t happen, they’re probably already planning it.
Well meaning guy shouting at me from driver's seat of his minivan: "Why are you out here? Why do you want to be around ICE? They just killed a lady."
Me, pointing at my home: "I live here."
It seems a lot of people think they know Minneapolis now. Our flaws. Our faults.
I hope my neighbors join me in reclaiming the narrative.
Minneapolis, through the eyes of someone who actually lives here:
He has sent swarms of Officers to harass our people
He has kept among us Standing Armies without Consent of our legislatures
Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us
Protecting them from punishment for Murders which they commit on the Inhabitants
- Thomas Jefferson, 1776
@lydiakauppi@rhett_carlson I live in one of the pictured complexes - we love it. When 3/4 bedroom units list, they go quickly. When 2 bedrooms list, they sometimes linger with price decreases. This might scare off developers looking at overall averages, recent history....
Last week, Richfield passed our first reading of a new zoning code for our multifamily districts. Second reading (final vote) will be in a week.
Among the changes:
-Minimum lot size for high-density reduced by 90%
-Reduced parking downtown + on transit
-Eliminate unit min SF
Care about quality of life and economic mobility? Want to make sure more of those homes are close to transit, jobs, and neighborhoods with walkable amenities like pharmacies, grocery and schools? Yep, we're on it.
Minnesota is 100K homes short of where we need to be to ensure every person has a stable, affordable place to live. @moreneighbors is working hard at the MN state capitol to change that. It's your turn to get involved & stay connected: https://t.co/KjkV1CE5UG
Neighbors for More Neighbors is doing inspiring work for better housing policy in MN - we need your support to keep making policy changes - state and local - a reality. Donations matched this week!
We’re organizing in our communities & at the Capitol every day, and that takes money.
Your donation is MATCHED dollar for dollar this week only. Donate $50 of your dollars today for a total impact of $100! https://t.co/rnaiZ9DlA0
@taylr We had a downed power line (no live current) with caution tape across the sidewalk in front of our local MPS elementary school for the entire months of Sept and Oct this year, plus part of Aug. Good luck.
San Francisco has built one new home for every six new jobs since 2005; so now all the family-sized homes are occupied by groups of adult roommates and people with kids can’t find housing they can afford.
As a result, school enrollment is cratering and schools are closing.
@rhett_carlson@PhilmerPhiI I was bummed to see that in NE - we love the whiteys patio, but really looks like it won't work like it used to at all. Is that being fixed?
