Starmer's upcoming social media edict is the definitive death rattle of British liberty, a chilling milestone where the state officially nationalises your children and liquidates the concept of parental authority.

Under the guise of a benevolent 'protection' racket, the Labour government will legally bar anyone under sixteen from ten major digital platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube.

But the true, mask-off authoritarianism lies in the regimes treatment of sixteen and seventeen year olds, who will be subjected to a mandatory, state enforced nightly social media curfew, locking them out of the digital world from 9pm to 7am.

And the ultimate hypocrisy of the system. Under the Representation of the People Bill, the government claims 16 and 17 year olds are mature enough to vote, pay taxes, and shape the geopolitical future of the United Kingdom, yet simultaneously argues they are too fragile to choose their own bedtime on the internet.

To round out this corporate-state panopticon, the government is completely banning under 18s from specific AI chatbots and stripping apps of basic features like disappearing messages and livestreaming.

The sheer, suffocating dystopia of this policy is found not in what it bans, but in how it must be enforced. To police a nightly digital curfew for near adults, the state cannot rely on an honour system; it requires total, invasive, and inescapable biometric surveillance.

Every single citizen, regardless of age, will soon be forced to scan their face, upload government identification, or surrender biometric data just to access the foundational infrastructure of the modern internet. By weaponising a media-stoked moral panic to convince 'nine out of ten' terrified parents (the 30-odd thousand moronic parents who responded to the consultation) to beg for their own subjugation, the Starmer regime has executed the Hegelian script flawlessly.

They allowed algorithmic poison to fester, waited for the public to scream for a saviour, and are now delivering the ultimate trap: a permanent digital passport system where the state controls your face, your identity, and your right to communicate after dark.

I'm furious about this.

I'm a parent and one of my children who falls in this age category has faced very serious in person bullying at school that extended out into social media. It was all encompassing and seriously harmful.

So I understand the potential for seriously negative impact from social media on young people.

But the single most important thing that got them through it was their friendship online with kids in the US. 1 in particular who became a very close friend who was part of a larger group.

They game together but spend the time chatting and working on plans for the future. It's a true friendship. Talking about business ideas, culture, etc, for hours everyday.

Without that, they would have had absolutely no outlet and been doomed to only exist in a reality in which they have been completely outcast.

As a parent, I monitor social media use using already available tools. I create accounts myself and know who is being interacted with.

I set up curfews for certain apps on all devices but make sure I allow for the positive interactions and friendships to happen.

As some are in the US, that means access at late hours but I'm entirely capable of managing this and I know the trade offs involved and then manage through those as well.

I talk with my children directly about the risks, what to do, what not to do and why.

If the government moves forward with these blanket curfews, that will cut my child off from their best friend for good which will very seriously impact their mental health.

I will absolutely not accept the government harming my child in this manner.

The UK Goverment want to lower the voting age to 16, but simultaneously want to put a curfew of 9pm on social media.

The latter is totally unenforceable and any parent worth their salt should ignore this latest censorial diktat.

Windows 11 June 2026 update, which was supposed to make PCs faster, is crashing some PCs with BSODs, breaking OneDrive integration in File Explorer and custom folder icons, and causing other problems.

We're seeing reports that Windows 11 KB5094126 is causing boot failures on some PCs, mostly HP enterprise hardware.

The worst reports involve BitLocker recovery loops, Black Screen of Death/BSOD failures, Secure Boot signature errors, and error 0xc0430001.

Affected models appear to include HP EliteBook 840 G10, HP ProBook 460 G11, HP Engage One Pro G2 AiO POS, HP ZBook, and some Dell Precision systems.

The likely trigger is Secure Boot certificate handling + EFI partition space. On older images with a 100MB EFI partition, Windows may fail to update Boot Manager because there isn’t enough space, especially on HP systems where firmware recovery files can bloat EFI.

There are also File Explorer cloud integration issues. OneDrive, and in some cases Dropbox or iCloud Drive, may stop opening from the sidebar/tray shortcut after KB5094126.

Microsoft also confirms desktop.ini hardening can break custom folder icons or localized folder names from untrusted sources.

KB5094126 is important, as it fixes 200+ security bugs, but be careful, as it could cause havoc on some PCs.

Refuse to comply, and dare them to geoblock. Without Google and Apple, the UK economy would probably collapse. It isn't so much that those services are crucial (although they are), it's that Britain is already on the fiscal brink and all it would really take is a little push.

I'm sure blocking the Internet would go over really well with the British people, too.
