As a graphics programmer, here are my thoughts on Minecraft's new Vibrant Visuals update:
Firstly, it's an awesome idea and I'm totally on board. There's a huge community demand for better graphics effects. Lots of people hate any change, but I am glad they are taking the risk
Because I don't have enough problems in my life, I decided to make a custom render engine in #Blender so I can code GLSL shaders and render them nicely
// Any three (non colinear) points define a circle
// { .xy=center, .z=radius }
vec3 getCircle( vec2 a, vec2 b, vec2 c )
{
vec2 ba = b-a, cb = c-b, ac = a-c;
float de = ba.x*cb.y-ba.y*cb.x; // zero if colinear
vec2 ce = 0.5*(a+b+vec2(ba.y,-ba.x)*dot(ac,cb)/de);
return vec3( ce, length(a-ce) );
}
ok, so if I allow fetch(), cd(), pwd(), ls(), and fstat() to handle bbs://, then it can be treated like a read-only file system, and (almost) transparently used by filenav & terminal etc. #picotron
Games have bugs and gta is no exception.
Over the last decade, a modder going by the name ‘Silent’ has developed patches to the original trilogy (gta3, VC, SA) on PC.
SilentPatch fixes 67 issues with gta3, 66 for Vice and 165 for SA.
If you want to play the original games I would recommend installing SilentPatch. You can find them here:

@__silent_ has recently made his gta patches Open Source. This means others can add their own fixes. Not for the faint of heart as it involves analyzing the game code in assembler format.
There is a great read here on the (possibly final) version of SilentPatch.

Here's a video about the issues it fixes in San Andreas.
