When war broke out in 1914, Maria Skłodowska Curie's first act was to carry France's entire radium supply 600 kilometres by train to Bordeaux in a safe-deposit box, and her second was to return to Paris and reinvent herself as a field radiographer. Surgeons at the front were digging for bullets and shrapnel by probing, with the resulting infections and amputations, because every X-ray machine in France sat in a city hospital.

Curie commandeered idle equipment from laboratories and from doctors who had gone to war, and mounted it in vehicles with a dynamo driven off the car's own engine so the units could work where there was no electricity. The soldiers called them petites Curies. By October 1914 the first were operating; eventually about twenty mobile units and two hundred fixed radiological posts were in service, and an estimated one to 1.2 million wounded were examined through them. She did not run this from Paris. She learned to drive, change tyres and clean carburettors, and took a unit to the front herself, accompanied by her seventeen-year-old daughter Irène as assistant.

At the Radium Institute she and Irène trained about 150 women, many with no scientific background, in electricity, anatomy, and plate development. She had earlier refused to patent the radium isolation process, on the grounds that it belonged to science, and she spent her second Nobel money on war bonds. At the end of the war the French government gave Irène a medal and gave Marie no official recognition at all.

This paper answers why psychopaths keep ending up as CEOs and politicians.

Researchers mapping out the mechanics of "successful psychopathy" found that corporate capitalism and modern political selection systems are not neutral.

They are hyper-efficient filtering machines.

And they are specifically optimized to select for the exact traits normal people find repulsive.

Normal leaders are constrained by empathy, guilt, and long-term risk aversion. They hesitate when a decision hurts people. They feel the weight of collateral damage.

Psychopaths don’t have an emotional brake pedal.

When a company or a political party needs someone to ruthlessly slash budgets, fire thousands of people, bluff through a crisis, or project absolute, unshakeable confidence, normal candidates stutter.

Psychopaths step right up.

Their superficial charm, pathological fearlessness, and total lack of remorse look identical to "strong leadership" during an interview or a campaign.

They weaponize corporate chaos. While everyone else is panicking, they ruthlessly manipulate the narrative, step over their peers, and take credit for the wins.

They weaponize charisma to dazzle the board or the voters, and hide their emptiness behind a mask of high performance.

The system rewards the ruthlessness, promotes them to the top, and punishes anyone who tries to slow them down with ethics.

The researchers call it a feedback loop of structural decay.

Corporations and governments built an environment where being entirely devoid of a conscience isn't a disqualifier.

It’s a competitive advantage.

Terence Tao made a very powerful point:

“In most cases in pure mathematics, the problems are posed not because we desperately want the solution to these problems in and of themselves, but because we have seen from past experience that human-directed efforts to solve these problems tend to spur further development of the field through the efforts to solve such problems, and then to digest any partial or complete solutions that emerge for further insights.

Prematurely solving the problem by purely AI-powered methods—particularly without full transparency into the solution process—can contaminate this process to the point where it actually becomes a net negative for the progress of mathematics as a whole.”

I’ve been following Terence Tao for like 20 years, and I have always been impressed by the clarity of his thinking.

This clarity stands out even more in this difficult moment, as AI labs turn mathematics into a battleground in their race for supremacy.

In this race, they risk damaging one of humanity’s highest intellectual endeavours.

Der Stromanschlag in Berlin im Januar.
Die „Vulkangruppe“, die Dobrindt sofort als linksextreme Täter präsentierte.
Vielleicht gibt es die so gar nicht.
Vielleicht kamen die Pläne für den Anschlag aus einem Hack, hinter dem eine Truppe mit „Verbindungen nach Russland“ steckt.
Das sagt nicht irgendein Verschwörungskanal.
Das sagt Peter Tiede, Chef-Autor Politik bei BILD, auf seinem privaten X-Account, wie er dort ausdrücklich vermerkt.
Die BILD ist für zwei Dinge bekannt: für aggressive politische Zuspitzung – und dafür, dass ihre Reporter ziemlich gute Quellen haben, wenn irgendwo etwas durchsickert.
Nun sitzt Tiede vor der Kamera – und plaudert über den Berliner Daten-GAU.

BILD hat nach eigenen Angaben mit Insidern gesprochen, den Einstiegspunkt des Angriffs recherchiert und lässt inzwischen eigene Spezialisten durch die geleakten Daten gehen.
Die Senatskanzlei bestätigte ihr, dass der Initialzugang über das Bezirksamt Mitte lief.

Und dann wird es interessant.
Denn Tiede sagt nicht das, was hervorragend in die übliche BILD-Erzählung passen würde.

Er sagt nicht: Da waren wieder die Linksextremen.
Er sagt nicht: Die „Vulkangruppe“ hat den Berliner Stromanschlag verübt, Fall erledigt.

Im Gegenteil.
Über den Anschlag auf das Stromnetz im Januar sagt er sinngemäß: Bis heute habe man niemanden gefunden – „vielleicht, weil es sie so gar nicht gibt“.

Dann erzählt er, dass bereits Ende Juni 2025 ein Dienstleister im Umfeld der Berliner IT gehackt worden sei und dabei Daten zur kritischen Infrastruktur abgeflossen seien – Stromnetze, Wassernetze, genau die Art von Informationen, mit denen sich spätere Angriffe vorbereiten ließen.

Und er beschreibt eine IT-Struktur, in der Server teilweise in unverschlossenen Besenkammern von Bezirksämtern standen, „wo jede Putzfrau Zutritt hatte“, während zugleich externe Dienstleister Zugriff auf solche Systeme hatten.

Ein Datenabfluss, der dem Bund offenbar nicht, verspätet oder nur unvollständig gemeldet wurde.

Er zieht eine Linie vom damaligen Hack über den Stromanschlag, einen späteren Angriff auf ein Fernwärmeheizwerk, die zeitweise lahmgelegte Berliner Justiz bis zum jetzigen Megaleak.
Das ist der entscheidende Sprung. Er behauptet einen Zusammenhang, aber er erklärt im Video nicht, welches konkrete Beweisstück den Hack von 2025 mit Rhysida 2026 verbindet.

Aber er sagt diesen Satz:
„Alles offensichtlich zumindest eine Truppe, die Verbindungen nach Russland hat oder die zumindest von russischen Staaten mit toleriert wird.“

Das ist deshalb bemerkenswert, weil BILD zwei Tage zuvor noch selbst ausdrücklich festhielt, Rhysida sei nicht eindeutig zugeordnet; es gebe lediglich Hinweise auf einen russischen beziehungsweise GUS-Hintergrund – unter anderem russischsprachige Kommunikation und die auffällige Schonung russischer und GUS-Ziele.

Mit anderen Worten: Tiede geht in diesem Video weiter als das, was seine Zeitung bislang sauber belegt veröffentlicht hat.

Und genau da werde ich hellhörig.
Nicht, weil damit bewiesen wäre, dass Russland hinter dem Stromanschlag steckt. Das ist es nicht.

Sondern weil ausgerechnet der Textchef eines Blattes, das normalerweise keine Gelegenheit auslässt, auf Linksextremismus einzuschlagen, plötzlich sagt: Vielleicht stimmt schon die Berliner Tätergeschichte, auf die sich die Politik gestürzt hat, so gar nicht.
Und vielleicht gehören Vorgänge zusammen, die bislang getrennt behandelt wurden.

Dobrindt hatte nach dem Stromanschlag sehr schnell die politische Schublade aufgezogen: Linksextremismus. Vulkangruppe.
Hat mich von ersten Tag nicht überzeugt.

Nun erzählt einer, dessen Zeitung genau diese Schublade normalerweise begeistert mit aufzieht, eine völlig andere Geschichte.

Und spätestens da würde ich gern wissen:
Was weiß die BILD inzwischen, das sie noch nicht vollständig veröffentlicht hat?
