Final podcast, Friday.
Thanks to our Ed Tech team and podcast hosts. It was great to get thinking again and get out of my own head. Really great discussions and food for thought this week. #rcsdpodpd#RCSDconnect
Q2. To plan or not to plan. Making accommodations and modifications to my program is nothing new, however there is more to think about and consider. Feeling lost at times and a little frame locked. Can't wait to see the staff and start collaborating.#RCSDpodPD#RCSDConnect
I ask my students who are fresh into grade 6/7 at the beg. of the year if they know everything I'm going to teach them - "of course not Mr.R" - then stop thinking that everything needs to be 100% off the bat; you have a lot to learn. #trialanderror#RCSDpodPD
Less is more. Agreed. We have an overwhelming amount of choices when it comes to technology - where do we even start? This year, I am picking 1 or 2 programs, will master them, and fully integrate them into my teaching practice. Suggestions? #RCSDpodPD
Maker spaces and having the opportunity to build, construct, and create is vital! I do it every year in a variety of subject areas. #artsedmindset#RCSDpodPD
@vendi55 Keep the content relevant; students want to know, "how can I use this". Variety - give kids a celery of resources and content to use. Exposure - expose kids to content, resources, materials, information, programs, philosophies that they wouldn't have otherwise considered.
@thebigredleroni @jmattmiller@adambellow Totally! A person needs to swallow their pride, ask for help, and people need share their knowledge. You can't spell collaborate without collaborate....?
#RCSDConnect#InnovatorsMindsetRCSD Give students time to tinker with software, programs, and apps!!! They learn a lot through trial and error. They end up teaching themselves more than expected.
@JeffTonita It's amazing what kids can do to benefit their learning when given the freedom. Before I teach them how to use a program, I let them explore it and tinker with it. They end up figuring out now about it than I was going to teach. Allow time for exploration.
βWho drives the learning in your classroom?β
Once our students have a strong grasp of digital citizenship, we must push our students towards becoming digital leaders. Dig cit is very important, but just the start! #EPRCSD#RCSDConnect
Ah yes, the "real world". We need to make students versatile, well-rounded, eager to learn, and to not fear failure. Being a Connected Educator can foster these attributes.
