Today marks 4 years since India banned safer alternatives to smoking, which has caused immense damage to tobacco control efforts. AVI Board member Kanav Rishi Kumar has a message for vapers, vendors and legislators. (1/3) #endvapeban
WHO giving an award to India for the vape ban is like giving an award to a drug dealer for eliminating his rivals and establishing a monopoly
@WHO@vapeindia
“India should adopt tobacco harm reduction tactics ~ however having banned e-cigarettes and other electronic nicotine delivery systems nearly two years ago, India has effectively eliminated the opportunity to incorporate THR into tobacco control.”

The Association for Harm Reduction Education and Research (AHRER) is hosting a monthly webinar on September 29, 2021 at 7-8 PM IST. To set a reminder on YouTube: https://t.co/ixrGLrzkHg
All projections show ITC is set to sell more cigarettes. How much better for public health would it be if it was instead incentivesed to make less harmful products such as vapes, snus and heated tobacco? @nsitharaman@FinMinIndia@RahulGandhi

Breaking News: @DrTedros & @WHO have just announced the 2021 award for protecting Planet Earth from #ClimateChange will be shared by Shell, Chevron, ExxonMobil, BHP & Rio Tinto! Congratulations!
Sorry but I disagree. I do not believe they are doing it for kids. Its just the easiest way to shield themselves from tough questions, gain some sympathy and also to justify their unscientific claims/actions.
I myself quit 10 yrs of smoking habit accidently 4 yrs ago with the help of vaping, that too overnight. Million lives like mine have been saved by THR products like Ecigs. Like you said #RegulateDontBan and all we ask is #EndVapeBan
Exactly on point @TheDeshBhakt. In 2019, govt banned ecigs; 95% safer alternative to cigs, via ordinance. Later, they presented absurd unscientific claims to justify the ban in parliament. Bans never work and they hurt the weaker communities most.

There are heaps of scientific evidence that shows switching to Tobacco Harm Reduction alternatives, like Ecigs, SNUS etc increases cessation rate and exposure to toxic chemicals thereby saving lives.
@DrTedros@drharshvardhan One politician awarding another (his boss at WHO) over the pyre of lost tobacco control priorities: Since India's ban on safer alternatives, the deadliest of all, bidis, have been exempt from pictorial warnings and no tax raise on cigarettes for 3 consecutive years. @RahulGandhi
@DrTedros@drharshvardhan Give @drharshvardhan one more award since govt owns ~28% stake in ITC. Give an additional award for not banning any tobacco products in India.
Banning THR product is a tactic to protect tobacco monopoly and to keep the blood money flowing. Give award, 10mn die/yr in India
