CCs charge MDR because they enable ppl to buy stuff on credit which boosts sales for merchants. +users get points and 1 month extra interest for amt spend.

@datta_arvind Merchants don't pay MDR. It's accounted for in MRP. Plus CCs ensure ppl can buy stuff for which they don't have money immediately so it boosts sales for merchant. No such benefit for UPI. Better to use only cash/CC now. UPI is finished.

@vikramwarialani @atulbonte @Asan_research Credit card helps merchants by enabling people to buy goods on credit, stuff they otherwise wouldn't have bought due to lack of funds so merchants are okay with MDR. UPI deducts directly from your bank account, there's no credit involved plus no incentive for me to use.
