My heart is heavy hearing of the passing of Dr. Mwele Malecela. She was an inspiration, a guiding light, a fierce and compassionate activist, and a treasured friend. The global movement to end NTDs would not have achieved so much without her. I will miss her dearly. 💔
Our hearts are broken by the passing of our dear colleague & champion of health science & equity, Dr Mwele Ntuli Malecela, @WHO Director for NTD Control. It is an incredible loss for the global health community. We must stay true to her path to #BeatNTDs & keep her legacy alight.
Heartbroken by Dr Mwele Malecela’s passing. She contributed hugely to our work in Africa & to the elimination & control of #NTDs globally, fighting fiercely for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. We will ensure her vision of a brighter tomorrow without NTDs becomes a reality.
