#ahs13 “the baddest witch of them all”
has finally fixed a massive 7-year plot hole regarding richard ramirez (the night stalker), which was caused by the total contradiction between his storylines in season 5 (hotel) and season 9 (1984).

in ‘hotel’, ramirez mentions that he died of liver cancer in prison in 2013. however, the events of ‘1984’ completely ignored the show's own canon. in that season, richard makes a deal with satan while in prison and becomes immortal, which leads to the ghosts of camp redwood killing him continuously for 30 years, all the way until 2019. by this logic, ramirez physically could not have visited james march at the hotel cortez in 2015 given that the camp redwood ghosts held him under relentless, unceasing captivity day and night.

with yesterday’s episode, everything changes through the powerful witch mallory. using her time magic (tempus infinituum), she takes richard ramirez, who was freed from camp redwood by satan himself, and sends him back in time to 1985. in the original timeline, an angry mob in the boyle heights neighborhood of los angeles beats him half to death, but the cops save him just in time and take him to prison.

however, mallory completely alters his fate. in this new timeline, the mob beats him to death before the police arrive. he is never taken to prison, never lives to face trial, and never makes a deal with satan. consequently, his presence at camp redwood is completely erased, meaning the ghosts no longer have to kill him repeatedly. instead, he dies permanently at the hands of the neighborhood residents in 1985. his death there completely resets the temporal paradox of the “two night stalkers”.

Production designer Anu Schwartz revealed that he was given just six weeks to rebuild Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies from “AHS: Coven” for #AHS13:

• The original set was torn down in 2014 and nothing was kept in storage, so it had to be painstakingly recreated
• The paint swatches, set pieces, profiles, and proportions used in ‘Coven’ were not documented or no longer exist
• ‘Coven’ production designer Mark Worthington only had photos of the original set
• Partial set plans from ‘Coven’ were eventually discovered in a Disney archive, allowing them to identify the original fireplace and ceiling medallion vendor to make exact replicas
