Gwynne just delivered the most polite public execution in aerospace history. She didn’t even flinch. That’s how you roast someone while still looking like the adult in the room. 😂
A fully and rapidly reusable rocket will fundamentally change how humanity accesses outer space. “The Holy Grail of Rocketry” continues the ongoing Starship series with a look back at the scrappy days of SpaceX engineers proving reuse was possible and takes you onboard a high-seas race to recover a floating Starship
I was once talking to Freeman Dyson about why nuclear power did not thrive in the United States. Dyson was one of the chief designers of the TRIGA nuclear reactor, which remains the only one to have made a profit for its parent company.
Freeman told me that the problem with nuclear power was that unlike computers it was not allowed to be built through trial and error. Unlike computers, there were no startups, experimenting and playing around with different designs of nuclear reactors. We should “let a thousand flowers bloom”, said Freeman.
Those flowers are blooming now and it’s a great thing.

SpaceX engineers spent several days inspecting Ship 40 in the waters off Christmas Island. They collected heatshield samples and gained vital insight into how the vehicle handled reentry with improvements now planned on future vehicles
Ship 40 is headed home!
Our friend Svyatoslav Shanygin has shared the following video and pictures, showing Ship during loading operations onto the Boskalis semi-submersible heavy transport vessel, Forte, at Christmas Island, Australia.
