We are hiring! Monticello High School in Charlottesville, Virginia is looking for a chemistry/physics teacher. MHS is a great place to work with amazing students and teachers. Come and join us! https://t.co/QaXramPoeA
Starting today, JMRL is partnering with @VDHgov to distribute home COVID-19 test kits at all branch locations. No library card required. Call your local branch for an appointment. Curbside pickup ONLY. https://t.co/YC2yVwKiLw #jmrl#jmrlib#covid19#rapidtest#atyourlibrary
A preview of what’s to come in just a couple of hours. Once I get this part behind me, I’ll finally be able to get to work. Can’t wait. #CountdownToMars
For the 1st time, molecular water was discovered on a sunlit surface of the Moon, suggesting water may not be limited to cold, shadowed places. Goddard postdoc Dr. Casey Honniball, made the discovery using NASA's @SOFIAtelescope airborne observatory. https://t.co/TUFKK8Rl9x
@aserkin@Leahbbarton I give partial answer keys for assignments, so kids can check as they go. Then grade them on the work not the final answer. Also allowing resubmissions so they read the feedback to improve their grades. Would love to hear about mote. What do you like about it?
All Space Considered – Remote is back live on #GriffithObservatoryTV tomorrow, August 7 @7:30pm PDT.
Excited to meet Katie Mack (@AstroKatie) and more. Sneak preview: we’ll teach you how to make your own beautiful @NASAJuno images – no experience needed!

@valmonticue I was thinking about using this article this year for the same thing! Interesting study, but only 19 people in it. I think could start a good discussion. https://t.co/dcP8v9tNYE
What a great idea-how to see all students’ work while they are in breakout rooms. Extra setup but the closest I have seen to being able to walk around a physical classroom. Would even work for f2f/socially distanced group work. Definitely going to use this! @EricBrewe
On Mondays, my class has problem solving workshops. It worked well today, here is how it went...plus note the cool picture of my problem solving command center. #iteachphysics

@MrJoeMilliano Does it have to be tied to the curriculum or can it be a discussion of current news that uses math or geometry? I’m trying to bring science news into physics this year. “What do you notice? What do you wonder? Is there enough evidence to support this claim?”
@fnoschese@DrDawes I’m trying not to do too many new things, because it is going to be so much more work this year. But I find myself simplifying and focusing on the essentials for learning and supporting students. And that will fundamentally change my teaching -In good ways!
@fnoschese@DrDawes I started a couple of years ago giving answer keys for most physics classwork. I grade for the work and reasoning. The kids really like it, they work more independently. I think it will be a great tool for remote learning.
@MizCrozet I love this! Maybe put the check in question (how is your buddy doing?) at the end of classwork once a week. Let the kids choose how they want to communicate- email, text, or whatever they prefer. Definitely going to think more on this. And to adjust as students give feedback.
