New-found immune cells called ‘ruptoblasts’ explode when triggered, ejecting toxic chemicals capable of delivering death to surrounding cells in just minutes. The cells’ discoverers say that this process, which they call ruptosis, seems to be a new form of cell death.

A structure of CXCR4 in complex with a de-novo designed miniprotein blocker determined at our @ANRFIndia facility @IITKanpur is published in @Nature! Spearheaded by the lab of Prof. David Baker (Nobel Prize, 2024) @UWproteindesign, it also involves @arshukla and team @IITKanpur.
Congratulations to the more than 90 outstanding researchers who have been elected to the Fellowship of the @royalsociety! The 2026 cohort of Fellows and Foreign Members includes 19 #NASmembers. See the announcement: https://t.co/fy9PFlh2aj
I have now co-authored papers with four different Nobel laureates😎. First as a PhD student, then as a post-doctoral fellow, and most recently, as a collaborator! All credit to these👇superstars in our lab @IITKanpur for making the latest one possible! I am so proud of you all!
Absolutely stunning work: de novo designed miniproteins targeting GPCRs as potent agonists and antagonists.
This opens countless possibilities for programmable signaling, cleaner therapeutics, and faster drug discovery.
Protein design is coming for pharmacology. 🚀
Congratulations to all involved including our very own Sudha Mishra, Annu Dalal, Shachie Sinha, Manisankar Ganguly, and Ramanuj Banerjee! It is currently posted online as an accelerated article preview! Stay tuned for a more elaborate thread when the final version is published.
Delighted to share this amazing collaborative study involving our laboratory @IITKanpur now published in @Nature! This was spearheaded by David Baker's lab @UWproteindesign with contributions from several labs across the globe!

Congratulations @agrawalmanindra There’s another alum elected this year: Jitendra Malik @JitendraMalikCV of UC Berkeley Congratulations to him and to @IITKanpur Last year, Prakash Panangaden, another alum was elected. Other alum elected previously are Ashoke Sen and Mriganka Sur. Former faculty members elected are CNR Rao, Govardhan Mehta and TV Ramakrishnan. @IITKanpur is not too bad a place to be from (and in).
Today our group members picked up the paint brush instead of pipettes to show their creativity and talent at the departmental painting competition🖌️! I am so incredibly proud to be the mentor of such amazing students and fellows😎!! You all are rock stars👩🔬👨🔬!!!
