Out this month in the IEEE Electron Devices Society Newsletter: “Beyond CMOS (BC)”, a brief summary of the eponymous chapter of the IEEE International Roadmap of Devices and Systems (IRDS), which I help to edit. https://t.co/jVpWELineY
@GretaThunberg Crucial:
"IPCC's reports tend to be both conservative and consensus. They’re conservative, because insufficient attention has been given to the importance of tipping points, feedback loops..
There is no reason why a consensus viewpoint should be right.."https://t.co/oFFcboLnRo
”Prof Bill McGuire, for instance, from UCL, told me: ’The obvious acceleration of the breakdown of our stable climate simply confirms that - when it comes to the climate emergency - we are in deep, deep s***!’”

Just from today. There will be more disturbing reports tomorrow, and they will keep getting more frequent until we do something about it. The climate crisis is here, right now, and we have to act, right now.
.@SenSchumer: “It’s past time that the federal bench reflect more accurately the true depth & breadth...the legal profession has to offer. It’s about time that civil rights attorneys, federal defenders, and voting rights experts – like Myrna Pérez – join the ranks.” #ConfirmMyrna
Ironically, the ineptitude that some Republicans demonstrate re: MLK proves that the multiracial history of the United States *isn’t* taught adequately enough in schools, and that we *should* teach it more deeply.
The GOP would do well to stop banning books & start reading them.
I don't suffer trolls or fools. Both get blocked. These are serious times and they call for serious conversations. There's no time to waste on buffoonery and chicanery.
So it’s official. Unless the EU tear up their new #Fitfor55 package, the world will not stand a chance of staying below 1,5°C of global heating. That’s not an opinion, once you include the full picture it’s a scientific fact.

While this may seem obvious to residents of CA's mountain and foothill regions, this may actually & understandably come as a surprise to a majority of the state's population--since most folks live closer to the coast, near SF & LA, where June temps were much closer to avg. #CAwx
The difference between 1.5°C, 2°C or 3-4°C average global warming can sound marginal.
In fact, they represent vastly different scenarios for the future of humanity.

EVERY American should have equal opportunity to use their skills and expertise to help America tackle the climate crisis. This funding isn't just an investment in our underserved communities, it is an investment in our country's clean energy future. https://t.co/YF8lJSjgGb
