Finally deactivating my account. Can no longer in good conscience allow my business to go to someone actively destroying my country. Farewell to everyone who stuck with me
For every $1 spent by the Parks, they produce $15 in economic activity. It is less than 0.067% of all federal spending.
Parks have a huge economic multiplier. They create platforms for substantial private sector activity (tourism, recreation businesses, etc.) while preserving public assets that appreciate in value over time. It's an incredible investment for the economy, and one we should keep.
@BretDevereaux He backed down from a fight with Zuck. I am *sure* that he would be willing to fight an ex-KGB judo practitioner who is also a master of poisons and treachery

This is why the First Amendment is worded in such uncompromising, absolute terms - because the moment you add an asterisk to "shall make no law" the tyrant will drive his oppression through the asterisk.
Maybe this is so obvious it can go without saying, but the system they build to crush dissent among green-card permanent residents can - and probably will - be used against citizens.
I don't think Khalil and I probably agree on much, but I'd defend his rights *for my own sake.*
If they can disappear permanent residents, they can disappear citizens too, and it won’t stop at protesters. They’re using the issue of Palestine as a test run because they know democratic leadership will be slow to respond, allowing them to normalize abducting whoever they want
@ettingermentum If you ignore physical appearances, it seems the outgoing guy was much more of a Hunter type, lesser failson of greater sires and all that
@connor__peters@xxtoffxx I think it isn't just that but the relative inability to move up in progressive organizations. You are expected to show deference to the people at the top year after year. Whereas if you go over to the right, you can be a relatively intelligent 19 year old and get promoted
A passionate crowd of around 400 people gathered at McCormick Park on Sunday morning to voice their concerns over the protection and future of Montana’s public lands. https://t.co/BXpeYsC4Wq
Whatever the laws, we must take a stand without regard to the content of the speech. If free speech means anything it is the right to dissent. Even the most tyrannical regimes allow people to speak in favor of the government
If the right to free speech is a right of any person in the US, then it must follow that the cannot cancel the legal residency/deport/disappear someone in the country legally merely for exercising that right
Even if it isn't a right, the government has no right or authority to mysteriously disappear people. It can deport foreigners who break laws but they would just go back to their home countries, not to black sites
@AlecStapp My hope is a large percentage of Americans, irregardless of political allegiance decide it’s time for an arms race in making material gains for regular people. Housing, transportation, jobs.
Trump is using the same War on Terror tactics that Bush created, and that Obama & Biden failed to crush.
Label your enemies as terrorists, and you can do anything to them.
You may not see it yet. We're on the road to Trump using the Insurrection Act to black-bag protesters.
This failure damages us in red/purple states as well. We get huge numbers of political refugees who vote Republican and our Dems get tarred with the same brush even though they have no control over the CA, NY or Mass parties
