Social Justice Centres Working Group demands accountability over Erick Otieno's death following detention at Muthaiga Police Station, says deaths in custody erode public trust in law enforcement.
Last week, communities across 8 counties gathered for Usawa Barazas to discuss the cost of living, the public health crisis, and growing inequality.
They put forward the people’s alternatives, showing that communities know what must change and are ready to lead it. #GDFI2026
Today, we hosted the @thekhrc team at our offices for a constructive engagement in advancing human rights, strengthening accountability and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
Its through collaborations that we are able to build stronger systems that protect rights, promote justice and ensure survivors of sexual violence can access the support and justice they deserve.

Saba Saba 2026 may have passed, but our quest for justice, accountability, democracy, and the rule of law remains as urgent as ever.
We stand in solidarity with the families whose loved ones remain missing, those who were unlawfully arrested, those nursing injuries, and the families mourning lives lost. Their pain does not end when the demonstrations end.
No amount of intimidation, threats, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, or violence will replace democracy. No campaign of fear will silence citizens demanding justice and accountability. We will continue documenting human rights violations, supporting affected families, and demanding that those responsible be held accountable.
The spirit of Saba Saba lives on in every Kenyan who believes in human dignity, constitutional freedoms, and a just society. We remain committed to defending civic space and ensuring that every victim receives justice.
Saba Saba may be over, but the struggle continues.

A vote is a mandate for development, not a commodity for sale.
Right now in Ol Kalou, as the upcoming by-election intensifies, national political rivalries are threatening to overshadow our local realities. We are watching campaigns increasingly rely on short-term inducements(cash handouts, free gifts, and eleventh-hour promises) rather than concrete ideas.
This isn't generosity; it's a distraction from the real issues. When we allow a vote to be treated as a transaction, we compromise our ability to demand results. The moment a leader attempts to buy support, they decouple themselves from any real obligation to address our structural challenges.
This is how communities end up footing the bill twice: once at the ballot box, and again through years of neglected infrastructure, struggling local clinics, and underfunded schools.
True leadership is built on an issue-based manifesto. We must judge candidates by their actionable blueprints for Ol Kalou: transparent plans for sustainable jobs, real support for our agricultural sector, better healthcare access, and reliable local security. Flour and blankets distributed a few weeks before polling day will not sustain our families for the next five years.
Let's change the conversation from who is giving what, to who is fixing what. Demand accountability, interrogate the policies, and protect your voice.
Fix it at the ballot.

It's unfortunate we're still fighting the same challenges, struggles & injustices of the 1990s, the government must be intentional and uphold the spirit of constitutionalism, respect inherent rights and assure all citizens of safety and security.

KLM Statement:
Thirty-six years after the historic sabasaba protests of July 1990 that sought the ‘opening-up’ of democratic space, the spirit of resistance in Kenya refuses to die.
In this year’s commemoration, Kenyan youth are demanding an end to abductions and enforced disappearances. KLM honors all those from our generation who have endured intimidation, arrests, abductions and torture.
We remember all those compatriots we lost - they who sacrificed their lives for a better Kenya.
